Way, way O/T, earlier today, went back and listened to Chris Christies July 2016 RNC convention speech.
Of note, not only CC’s lies and distortions, but a very small group of mega magats front and center.

At the end of the article, after asking for mercy on the FBI agents, Doocy issued a fatwa on the AG.
Doocy suggested critics of the DOJ should instead focus their anger on Garland himself.
“Garland is the one who has staked his entire reputation on it,” he said. “If there’s not something really big there, he is done.”

I could have stated that better. That 2 yr old move is when you want them to do anything constructive, look to the future, put on their big boy pants, do something useful, join with their fellow citizens, be part of something bigger/better than themselves.
If you want them to ride around in their trucks shooting their guns and threatening to destroy everything because that is the only thing they can wrap their brain around…you can sometimes get them off the couch.

There are two levels to this - the political candidates and the hoi polloi who vote for them
The political candidates are applying for a ticket on the wingnut welfare gravy train. There is a very real opportunity to get set up for the rest of your life (even if you are already well off, you can be more so) if you can get elected to some level of government and if you never deviate in the slightest from whatever the creed de jour, or creed de heure, happens to be.
And for the hoi polloi being enraged and showing your loyalty by being willing to claim to believe literally anything “your side” is currently claiming is the core of their newfound cultural identity and one of their principle forms of entertainment.
Even a powerful person of the old plutocratic right, with the best right-wing credentials in the business and vast wealth backing her - Liz Cheney - has been sacrificed to this deadly combination.
There is no way out for them. And not for use either, unfortunately.
