GRAPEVINE, TX – On a cold spring morning in this tony Dallas suburb, dozens of activists had heard the call. They had read the posts; they understood the stakes: America was in crisis, facing a threat from within. It was time for action, and time to take a 5 a.m. bus to the state capital to…
The nation’s problems are the Republican party.
This particular case is just GOP politicians feeding people hate, and some people will take the bait.
Rile up the base with Islamophobia, collect mountains of cash and prizes from Gulf monarchs: the GOP, folks.
When it comes to Texas, Sharia law is better than no law at all.
Texas: Where Politicians Appeal to the Voter’s Basest Instincts!
EPIC City is very obviously a violation of the Fair Housing Act.
Still a lot of that common clay hanging around the New West.
They stated they weren’t restricting it to Muslim only. I’m not familiar with the whole proposal, but what limitations were they placing that would be violations?
Not challenging your opinion, asking because you’re a whole lot closer to this than I am.
Mooslims ain’t the reason the US ranks 57th in healthcare globally. Indeed, if the GOP is going to pull the Sharia card, first explain why it costs $900 for a ride across the hospital parking lot in an ambulance. Or why 100 million Americans are living at or below the 200% poverty level, the measure defined for basic subsistence. The list of failures goes on and on. After the SOB addresses those failures he or she is welcome to start ranting about little girls in head scarves.
Why not? Their entire lives are built on fairy tales of talking snakes and imaginary friends who have magic powers, so why not go apeshit over something that doesn’t exist. No wonder this country has so many con men pretending to be pastors. The religious right in this country is just one mob of people so stupid and gullible they’re dangerous.
That’s like the White Citizens Council belatedly clarifying that its Caucasian Heights development centered around a White Nationalist church and K-12 school will not discriminate against other races.
The thing was planned and marketed from its inception as a Muslim community. That’s gross.
And yeah, I’m aware of various de facto religious compound communities across the country. They’re also gross.
Every day is Halloween to folks who get an orgasmic thrill out of frightening and being frightened. Oooo - scary!
I always value your input on legal matters. In your original post you mention “ obviously a violation of the Fair Housing Act “ but when @Scoutmom asked for clarification you just stated it was “ gross “. Please, what are the actual violations that you see ? I’m just not that familiar with it
“If you are a Republican candidate, you would like to not be talking about the economy right now."
The Republican Party’s got no solution to our real problems – especially their trashing of a successful Biden economy.
It would be helpful to know why you say that, since EPIC City doesn’t seem to exclude anyone.
Being gross (in your eyes) does not mean it is against the law. As Scoutmom asked, does the actual proposal acting violate the Fair Housing Act?
When did we pass a law the prohibits a religious group that only represents 1% of the entire US population? Are they suppose to assimilate by converting to christianity because the GOP says so?
Sharia itself is a system of divine moral guidance for Muslims. It’s not a fixed legal code
This is like fighting antifa that is not a specific group of people with funding or a leader.
I’m not challenging opinions either. I’m asking because I am not a lawyer and I don’t live in TX.
TEXAS LAW
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
SHARIA LAW
An eye for an eye.
See the difference?
“They come here, and they don’t know anything about America, and we don’t hardly know anything about them,” she added.
So you either get scared and remain ignorant and belligerent, or – call me crazy – say hi and learn about people unlike yourself who want the same basic good things in life that you do. And how you respond is, of course, how you vote.
On Tuesday I picked up a prescription at CVS. A very nice young lady wearing a hijab assisted. We joked about the absence of pennies, and would it be an issue with a $.79 co-pay.
Was I supposed to be frightened?
No, you were supposed to be disgusted.
