I don’t know why the board felt that way, what advantage the Supremes’ involvement would confer on them, but my experience with board-staff interaction strongly suggests they wanted it to happen and wanted the decision made and action taken in the shadows. Something isn’t kosher here, that’s goddamned obvious.
What’s the frequency?
Yes, i don’t see anyone willing to stick their neck out. They’re stonewalling.
Tomorrow’s London Times
This prime minister must be dispatched now
Check SCOTUSblog; they likely will have a live summary.
Does the legislation that created HHC specifically allow the board to delegate authority? If not, I can’t see how the Court can accept an executive agency asserting power the legislature didn’t expressly grant it.
The debate between Beto and Abbott is pretty good. Texas Tribune has the link. It’s been going on since 7:00
Silly rabbit, intellectual consistency is for kids!
No, Spirit singing “Fresh Garbage “. I’d set a link but I’m a Luddite.
I think the attached Opinion of the Public Access Counselor covers that point: “HHC, however, asserts the Board delegates its litigation responsibilities wholesale to the executive staff. Notably, HHC did not offer any resolution, policy, or ordinance verifying the Board’s delegation of authority to the executive staff to do anything, much less an action of this magnitude.”
Regardless, as @godwit implied, I don’t see the current Court being constrained from hearing any case it wants to hear that gives it the chance to further undermine the nefarious social safety net.
“I have a feeling that if the board really understood what this case is about, they’d be mortified,” Bryce Gustafson
AND I have a feeling that Bryce doesn’t understand that when there’s money to be made the only the corporate boards care about is GREED. They worship at the feet of their profit Gekko.
NOTE: I agree that they should be mortified, but I don’t think they give a shit about that.
Tpm neeDs to usE a Current sUpreme courT photo.
Stop the steal!
What a way to start the day!
I’m glad I don’t live in Mississippi on welfare!
The “debate” was a complete farce, but Beto did alright. Abbott just rolled in, rolled on and rolled out.
“Dick pic” ?
Like the photo you posted of Brett Lavre’s face?
I imagine everyone’s seen this. It’s been walked back, but in CPAC, we have the makings of a good ole Bund - or whatever Bund is in Russian.
