A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. On his final day in office, President Joe Biden granted preemptive pardons to a handful of high-profile political targets of incoming President Donald Trump. Biden pardoned: retired Army General Mark Milley, the former chairman of…
First! But no cat photo.
Also just heard that Cecile Richards died.
And on the last day of American democracy, no less.
RE Having the keys to the nation handed over to the looters in the Rotunda: It would be nice if the networks showed the courtesy to intercut footage of its ransacking with the ceremony.
No one gives a shit about what Cannon is inclined to think.
From bbc… so much for any imports of fruits, veggies, cars or anything from Mexico.

"The incoming Trump administration will declare a “national emergency” at the US-Mexico border and direct the defence department to “seal the border” as part of a raft of executive actions aimed at restoring “common sense immigration policy”, according to incoming White House administration officials.
In a brief call with reporters, an incoming official said that 10 executive actions will be signed by Donald Trump today, all pertaining to the US-Mexico border.
The officials said that as part of the orders, the Pentagon will deploy additional resources and personnel to the border, including counter-drone capabilities.
Additionally, Trump will order that officials restart construction of the border wall, about 450 miles (724km) of which were built during his first administration, and reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy that requires migrants wait for their asylum proceedings on the Mexican side of the border."

I suppose now my grocery store will be short of fruit and veggies and my work with hungry seniors is dead meat as we won’t be able to get fresh food for them
Thanks trump for being so fucking considerate.
I have a closet full of avocados and eggs!
I’m going to the store at 12:01 p.m. I’m looking forward to buying eggs for 99 cents a dozen.
Oh, and gas prices are going to be under $2 a gallon, right?
Happy “Last Few Moments of Living in a Free Country!”, everyone! /s
I hear he’s swearing-in on a Trump-branded Bible. Chances are it’s not the Bible and has been sliced and diced to fit the GOP agenda and actions that they enjoy to roll around in like pigs in shit.
“So help me, me.”
Mrs chjm &I will wear black today. The TV is set for the NCAA Championship game and will remain off until that contest begins. Today is a day of sober reckoning. I am mindful of something Churchill said in the dark days of WWII; something to the effect of never, never, ever surrender.
Two bibles actually. One is by custom the Lincoln bible and the other is what ever donnie wants. It is all just bullshit to him. The oath means nothing to him
AND THEN…they’ll sell a new edition of it that has his palm print on the cover.
For that matter, it would be nice to "decorate’ the Rotunda the way the insurrectionist/looters did on 1/6/21.
I have a dear friend in an undisclosed city whose family restaurant will only play the sports channels today. Remote…what remote???
Didn’t a lot of that “wall” fall down shortly after he unwillingly left office? Shoulda got Mexicans to build it!
Never. The MSM is pretending it never happened. Their bootlicking coverage of the inauguration will be the gigantic coverup of trump’s illegal coup attempt. “Nothing to see here!”
The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. did not get it wrong. The arc of the universe does bend toward justice.
I will be repeating that to myself today, in the belief (hope?) that it remains true. Will leave pondering what true is for another day.
Did not watch Trump’s inauguration in 2017 and will not watch it now. Clips of the worst parts will be available later.
May whatever gods there be bless the United States of America and her people.
Some of the AZ wall was shipping containers. It was easy to get thru.
