Lil Miss Hot Mess, a prominent drag queen, realized about a week ago that she had been pulled into a fight over abortion in Ohio, which is over a thousand miles from her current home. The news came via a message from a friend, who tipped Lil Miss Hot Mess off that she was starring in an ad paid for by the group Protect Women Ohio. The commercial warned an upcoming ballot measure, “State Issue 1,” would allow “out-of-state special interest groups” to “enshrine late-term abortion in our constitution and abolish parental rights so someone can take your child to get an abortion or sex change operation without your consent.” Along with this ominous message, the ad featured footage of Lil Miss Hot Mess participating in a “Drag Story Hour” event alongside images of happy families with prepubescent children.
Marco Rubio used some imagery of me last fall,” explained Lil Miss Hot Mess, who said she has consulted attorneys about potential legal action related to the use of her image.
The anti-abortion champions will be in for a surprise when they find out drag queens can’t get pregnant. Not a subject in the evangelical science classes.
Liars. Liars. Liars. Talk about bad faith actors. This is how the right wing always does it–remove the nuance, obscure what’s really going on, stoke people’s fears about a really unlikely outcome.
Republicans have a radical unpopular agenda which they are trying to disguise by muddying the waters and confuse the voters with inflammatory fake outrage in order to pass what would normally be unpassible laws and unelectable candidates. Republicans are counting on brainwashing the gullible and firing up their base with stuff so outrageous that even their unpopular agenda can sneak by.
Sorry, just scanned the article because I kinda already know what this is about and how the wingnuts are trying to sabotage the vote now and on OH’s election day next Tuesday.
Nowhere in the article did I see a liberal stance on how to vote for this ballot measure to keep abortion constitutionally legal and safe in Ohio, which is a big disservice to writing an entire article about it. Its a given that the right is trying to distract by lying about the ballot measure.
All any woman in Ohio and their loved ones need to know come Tuesday when they vote, if they haven’t already, is that this measure has nothing to do with gay people or transgender anything. Period. All that crazytalk…is just crazytalk. Just know that. As they say…“Keep it Simple, Stupid”. These ballot measures are notorious for confusing people on purpose in some states over some issues. Those that don’t want to go to all the trouble of knowing every last bit of how we got here, just need to know which side supports their way of thinking in a way that cuts through the nonsense.
Most women want reproductive access to abortion, so just say so simply, and VOTE NO to make that happen. We made abortion legal in MI. Don’t make it so complicated. That’s what the other side wants. When the other side is lying…don’t even entertain their bullshit. Push correct and accurate information affirming a vote NO is a vote for reproductive rights and reproductive health…and let’s keep government intrusion out of the bedroom.
ETA: This ballot measure is designed to confuse. This ballot measure is about changing the OH Constitution from a simple majority they now have to a 60% threshold, plus getting more signatures in order to qualify in the future for other ballot measures, which would be more onerous for any real citizen action to qualify. The vote in November would be for the following vote specifically on abortion rights. So the first vote is for a procedural issue to be able to vote and the second vote in Nov. is the direct vote on abortion. The second vote may not happen with enough votes if Tuesday’s vote isn’t voted down. Got it?
I want simplicity when it comes to this issue. The other side knows when you’re explaining, you’re losing. (And here I am explaining…Oy.)
The commercials in Ohio do a good job linking secretary of state Frank LaRose’s comment that this is only about stopping abortion in Ohio. LaRose put his thumb on the scale in many ways: the long lines for early voting, one drop box per county, etc. He thinks it will gain him Sherrod Brown’s Senate seat.
This is just fucked up. I know this shit is protected speech, but come on. These are blatant, flat-out lies and disinformation so rancid it would get Goebbels hard. Now, in the grave.
Then maybe we need to start running ads that so and so Republican likes to fuck sheep. Or likes to google bi porn? I mean, why the fuck not? If you can say anything, then what the fuck are we doing with our dicks in our hands? Why are we constantly showing up to a gun fight with an oven mitt?
Reminder: Mark Levin is solidified Dunning-Kruger effect carved into a sculpture of a prolapsed anus.
KKKlanner monster who desperately screamed for red states to prosecute Obama while he was POTUS (and after) so that there could be no pardon from POTUS is also now “theorizing” that Mango Messiah could use the Supremacy Clause to avoid that fate, despite there being nothing pre-empted about state criminal charges…
He truly is someone to watch if you want to see just how besides themselves and mentally ill they all are at this point. Describing him as “apoplectic” doesn’t come close to capturing the true nature of it.
Who is behind Protect Women-Ohio? The Catholic Church or a bunch of White Evangelical Christians? People need to find out and confront the biggest donors.
Actually, I need to go back myself and correct myself big time. I’m a bit embarrassed.
Man oh man, these rightwing Ohioans are some devious evil characters in the art of confusion and distraction.
This first vote is about changing the constitutional requirements to get 60% vote instead of a plain majority of 50 + 1 to vote on anything to do with abortion or ballot measures. And they up the amount of signatures from more places before another type measure can be put on the ballot. In fact, the first vote this Tues. is indirectly a way to attack the abortion vote come Nov. ahead of time. So excuse me while I go change a few things and sheepishly exit stage right. Btw, if you’re in Ohio and are for reproductive rights…definitely VOTE NO on this ballot measure to keep the popular threshold for voting at 50 +1 instead of making it harder to get any ballot measures in the future.
