In New Hampshire, Republicans Have Winnable Race But Lackluster Field

As national Republican leadership geared up for what appeared to be a favorable environment in the midterms, New Hampshire was an obvious target.

Strange value system under which being an amoral toady means the same thing as having guts.

“If Chris had any guts, he would have run for U.S. Senate, and instead took the easy way out,” Lewandowski said. “And if the right Republican were to run against him, I’d be willing to bet Donald Trump would endorse Sununu’s opponent.”

Lewandowski being dispirited about his party’s prospects in an otherwise “getable” Senatorial election is a wonderful thing to hear. Let’s hope that the Democrats take proper advantage of the situation, and the RW doesn’t get its act together.

Amen. Maggie’s got my donation, and my vote (again). If there’s any value in my biting Lewandowski’s arm off and beating him over the head with it, I’ll happily volunteer; but I need to get my rabies vaccination sorted out first.

Every Senate seat matters. I do wish Sinema were up for reelection this cycle so I could vote for a different Democrat and see her tossed out. There will be a special election for Mark Kelly as he filled the last couple years of McCain’s term. I’ll happily vote for Kelly but when Sinema is up for reelection she will not be getting my vote

How sad. TPM does themselves a system “upgrade” over a weekend and had the perfect opportunity to fire discobot. But it is still here lurking, passing judgement on posts and playing nannybot. And reading over our shoulders.

Why would anybody want to be a Republican senator in 2022. The Republican caucus is composed of one power hungry leader and a bunch of followers who don’t have any opportunity to do anything for their constituents.

That is exactly the conclusion that Sununu reached, too.

Better if they had NO field, but the fact that there are some who are offered the GOP slot, and turn it down, says something about the state of the GOP.

Maggie Hassan isn’t a pushover. She may not be flashy but she’s no fool and she done a fine job from where I’m sitting. In Sullivan County to be exact, in the middle of NH. Let the GQP conjure the candidate they can. Maggie will win again.

Indeedy! And while we definitely need to stay motivated and committed, I don’t think the actual math is nearly as bad as the media wants to make it out to be. The GOP doesn’t seem to be recruiting solid candidates, and there’s plenty of backbiting and sniping at one another going on that will likely weaken their final field. There is a difference, after all, between a primary that seeks to find the strongest candidate, and one that seeks to find the purity candidate, especially when the purity in question is ‘how well do you serve two masters, Mitch and Pumpkin-Man?’
