Republicans have made it fairly clear that they have no interest in participating in an investigation of Jan. 6 beyond the security breakdowns of the insurrection itself.
I remember the response from local Republican officials when one of the banks in my hometown was recently robbed: “We don’t care about catching the robbers and those who planned the robbery. We need to find out who was responsible for not hiring enough security guards for the bank.”

My personal opinion is McCarthy and the others didn’t think Pelosi had the stones to use her power this way. This accounts for them being caught off guard and leaving themselves no option but to take their deflated ball and go home. Lyndon Johnson would be proud of Nancy today. I know I am.

I’m still trying figure out how the Republicans are trying conflate the George Floyd protest last summer with the insurrection at the Capitol in Jan? If I remember 2020 correctly the only peeps storming state capitols were right wing nut jobs angry at masks and stay at home orders.
