In First Chance For Voters to React to Trump II, All Kinds of Democrats Steamrolled Republicans

All kinds of Democrats won all kinds of races Tuesday night, as the party swept governors’ mansions, clinched the New York mayorship and is in the fight for an improbable Miami one, ran up huge margins in state legislatures, dominated critical judicial elections and cruised to victory in California’s redistricting initiative.  Races thought to be…

“Tonight is such a blowout so far that I wonder if it gives some Rs pause about redistricting in states that are still pondering it,” tweeted Kyle Kondik, managing editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball at UVA. “They already needed to ‘stress-test’ the districts (and they did in TX-NC-MO, I think, even considering tonight), but still.”

If Tuesday is a sign of where the midterm winds are blowing, the Republican gerrymanders may lead to bigger Democratic gains — on top of the big Democratic (Gavin Newsom) win, as voters approved a defensive California gerrymander by almost 64 percent.

This is what I have been suggesting. Gerrymandering is an art form. A party can get too greedy. In a wave election gerrymander pigs get to eat. Gerrymander hogs get slaughtered.

I didn’t know Vance had any siblings. I wonder what their reaction to his book was.

Turd Blossom (aka Karl Rove) and Russ Vought both believed/believe that they could/can establish a permanent minority-majority by simply suppressing people hard enough. It didn’t work for Rove and I sincerely hope this is strong evidence that it won’t work for Vought either.

I have been thinking about Vought. Somebody is truly working hard to make sure Trump doesn’t do what should be done right now to end the shutdown. My guess is that is Vought. He is a real turd.

Vought may certainly play a role. I think Trump has also painted himself into a corner with Schumer and Jeffries. He’s painted them as both evil incarnate and pathetic wimps, so if he comes to the table and negotiates with them, it makes him look weak and pathetic as well; something he can’t countenance.

You are probably right. Trump is high on his own supply.

I believe that Krasner and Bragg each won races for their city’s District Attorney position, which is a prosecuting attorney, not a defense attorney.

All Trump cares about is his poll numbers (and his grift). The gatekeeper of the poll numbers (probably Miller) is the one who controls Trump. As soon as Trump finds out that his numbers are in the tank and he’s not popular anymore, he’ll tell the Republicans to do a deal and the media will let him take credit for making “both sides” give in and reopen the government.

This presupposes that Trump (and MAGA voters) care about objective truth. When he’s ready, Trump will force Republicans to do a deal and then claim victory and credit for reopening the government. And the media will get on board.

not just in blue country: here in CT we flipped 30 Republican held towns blue, and only one flipped the other way (by 6 votes, pending recount). Some very red towns in my neck of the woods in northeast CT went blue.

Republicans are feeling blue today, because voters were seeing red yesterday.

The phenomenon of Republican underperformance when Trump’s name is not on the ballot continues.

“But that Republican underperformance was more than offset by MY name’s NOT being on the ballot!”

I live in a small town of about 22,000 residents about 45 miles NW of New York City. A reform slate of younger Democrats beat an entrenched Republican majority on our town board 57-43.

According to Trump the main reason Republicans got their asses kicked was because he wasn’t no the ballot. PLEASE Donald, run for some office next year so that you will be on the ballot.
