“direct assault on the U.S. Congress, the Capitol letter, and our Constitutional process.”

The Capitol letter? Does that mean anything or is it a typo?

Now they’re attacking the alphabet?!? Is nothing sacred?

ETA: Oh, right. Q. They’ll leave that one alone.

“It’s a stunning statement, if only for the fact of its existence: the military feels the need to say that it will stay apolitical, as it has done for nearly 250 years.”

Ruh roh… tough news for the seditionists to learn that the military won’t be joining them in the violent overthrow of the Capitol. I am going to bet there are a lot of them rethinking things right now.

This news isn’t too shabby though it could fall under CYA bigly because of the particular players.

Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, has told associates that he believes President Trump committed impeachable offenses and that he is pleased that Democrats are moving to impeach him, believing that it will make it easier to purge him from the party, according to people familiar with his thinking. The House is voting on Wednesday to formally charge Mr. Trump with inciting violence against the country.

At the same time, Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the minority leader and one of Mr. Trump’s most steadfast allies in Congress, has asked other Republicans whether he should call on Mr. Trump to resign in the aftermath of the riot at the Capitol last week, according to three Republican officials briefed on the conversations.

Specifically calling out sedition and insurrection. Why so “divisive”, Joint Chiefs of staff?

I wish they’d added, “Anyone who does not agree that Joe Biden is the President-Elect needs to do the brave thing and get out of the armed services.”

If only the idiot had been out of town for days look at how many things we’ve learned just today. Don’t think it’s coincidental.

Amazing to me that the military leadership feels obligated to release this. It’s a shot across the bow for anyone thinking that the military might back another coup attempt. I hope the Senates Seditious Seven and the House Insurrection Caucus take note.

It would also seem to be a warning to any fifth columnists under their command.

I do not believe that events, from 5 January 2021 on, have been what Trump would have planned.

There are better ways to be prepared for the criminal investigations which are sure to come from All Quarters

I guess ‘his generals’ decided they needed to explain to Donnie that they really do work for the American people and the Constitution. I really hope DT and his enablers get the message.

This is a shot directly AT the Donald.
This is a shot to let the GOP know to work to remove Trump stat
This is a shot to MAGAts that if they attempt to show their faces at ANY Capitol - state or Federal, they better expect to face the National Guards or the full US Army Infantry or Marine.

I think the “leak” of McConnell and McCarthy’s state of mind are prescient. This shows how fast things are moving and DjT is DOA. I am leaning with Josh (TPM) that he (DjT) likely won’t be in the WH long before the 20th…

Full Pardon for Trump grifting family and hangers-on as well as a purpoted self pardon… are also DOA…

We are dealing with a man so delusional, so paranoid, so mentally disturbed that it’s hard to know what he’ll do except they’ll be outside the bounds of conventional behavior. His ego simply can’t be satisfied and that’s why niece Mary’s book is entitled Too Much And Never Enough.

We’ve learned he and some aides were watching the riots as they unfolded and he was downright happy to see them. The insurrectionists were following his orders showing them their love and allegiance and the destruction of a building that’s been a cornerstone of our democracy for hundreds of years, a building where George Washington spoke, wasn’t his concern.

I know there are enlisted personnel who want to wage a war to overturn the election. And if I know it, you know damn well that every enlisted person knows it.
