Like a grotesque buddy comedy, the story of Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump’s pressure campaign to extract beneficial political information from Ukraine is equal parts absurd and horrifying.
In a very corrupt environment, there were politicos competing to tell Rudy anything he wanted to hear to give themselves a leg up. Rudy gets punked and thinks he has a story. Ugh.
What a crazy stupid story. This is worse than stupid Watergate.

Many Russian old-timers are still upset that Brezhnev and his horde of crooked Ukrainians were the ones that ran the old Soviet Union to the ground by stealing everything that wasn’t nailed.
Bottom line, Dumb and Dumber were manufacturing allegations to suit their narratives…
Trump et al alleged that Ukraine investigated Hunter Biden in 2016 (not true, UK investigated Burisma where HB was BoD then closed it)…
And so Dumb & Dumber were trying to make that Ukraine investigation happen in 2019…that’s a 3-year gap!
Looking forward to seeing all that “evidence” Giuliani claims he has.

We know how many times people here have said this is it! This time Trump is going down. First over the Comey firing and about a half dozen other instances since.
Amazingly, the scumbag rose to his highest polling numbers after the Mueller report.
It’s not just Trump and his corrupt cabal. As John Stuart Mill said in 1867:

Twenty Republicans would have to join every last Democrat in the Senate to vote for impeachment. I’m not even even sure all our blue dogs would vote to impeach. They are holding on by their fingernails in Trump friendly states.
Nancy actually passed an ACA in the House with a public option. Lieberman and Blanche Lincoln stood in the way of a public option in the Senate. If we ever gain control of the Senate again, I hope the fuck we kill the filibuster for good. The filibuster has done more harm than good over the years.
Is it more disturbing that the president is willing to use insane conspiracy theories to advance his interests, or that he appears to actually believe them?
Solomon is now fulfilling the Judith Miller role of planting stories for a corrupt administration so they can turn around and say it must be true because it is in the newspaper. This is much worse than being a hack or a stenographer - it is a scam on the public.

All good points, but we should also remember that public opinion lags way behind the reality of swiftly moving events, and Nixon was still popular with Republicans right up to the day he resigned. When McConnell’s antennae tell him that Trump is hurting more than helping, he will be left on an island where the only support will be the raving fanatics who refuse to look at anything that goes against their love of dear leader.
I think one of the biggest things to happen in the last 24 hours is Rudy saying he kept copies of State Dept texts. That is a big fucking crack in the wall of silence and corruption. Public opinion is going to change - bigly.
