In Banning Journos, Elon Musk Continues To Show Exactly Who He Is

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

Like with Trump, we know everything we need to know about Elon Musk. New scandals or outbursts of impulsivity or additional episodes of narcissistic self-absorption are merely duplicative. All that’s left to do is to chronicle the waste and destruction they leave in their paths.

First. Quite a buffet of news yesterday. Not sure we can top it today. Go forth and prosper TPM.

As for Rudy, lawyers are the worst client as usual.

I have long felt the new ‘heir presumptive’ of the GOP, Ron DeSantis, is actually far more dangerous than former POTUS Donald Trump. Both men are narcissistic sociopaths, but Gov. DeSantis is smarter and more focused and methodical. Gov. DeSantis wins on the ‘depravity scale’ as well. Mr. Trump’s depravity usually resulted in inaction and crude, performative statements. Gov. DeSantis, however, is increasingly taking concrete steps to advance his dystopian vision of U.S. society. These actions include:

  1. Suppressing state government officials and hiding or distorting government data
  2. Attacking public companies that he views as insufficiently supportive
  3. Censoring textbooks and attempting to introduce ‘Anti-Woke’ revisionist history into Florida school curriculums
  4. Preventing companies and institutions from instituting vaccine mandates
  5. Hiring a quack surgeon general to spread disinformation on Covid-19,
  6. Planning to empanel a grand jury to investigate the Covid vaccine suppliers

  7. Sending agents to another state to trick Venezuelan migrants and send them to a blue state

Mr. Trump was largely ‘all talk’. Gov. DeSantis is a man of action: really bad action!

Which needs to be relegated to section 4B below the fold

Must always have cat…or dog…but preferably a cat. This is the internet, after all.

You know, I’ve been watching the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the NFT offering made by a former POTUS. It’s been embarrassing, it’s been divisive.

It’s also kept that former POTUS front and center in media coverage for the last 24 hours, and has pretty much taken a portion of the oxygen out of the room for all the other news of the day.

Maybe this is yet another PR win for TFG? I mean, we are all talking about it - what’s the old adage, even negative publicity is still publicity?

Clearly Musk has decided to leave the “eccentric billionaire” division
And now compete in the
“Lunatic - Megalomaniac” category
… he has abandoned “quirkiness” and is now pleasuring himself via hurting people.

Imagine all the good he could have done with his money, he chose the dark side instead.

Dark or derp, does it matter?

Is there a card with TFG’s head photoshopped onto a baboon? Asking for, um, a friend.

He is a child with an expensive powerful magnifying glass
And he has now chosen to use it to start fires & kill insects for his own amusement.
Elon Musk serves no ethically positive purpose.

Yeah, but DeSantis isn’t ready for prime time like TMFWWNBN was.

The pitch seems kitschy enough that he has a plausible (for him, anyway) excuse that it is a joke, while still raking in the $99 gifts of adoration from the rubes. The error seems to be that if he doesn’t claim it as a joke, he just seems pathetic, as if whoever talked him into this should be charged with elder abuse.

Really, Really
MAGA Capitol rioter ‘can’t believe’ that he is ‘going to jail’ for ‘NFT salesman’ Donald Trump - Alternet.org

Notorious Capitol rioter Tim Gionet, better known by his Twitter name “Baked Alaska,” was suddenly filled with regret over his life decisions after watching former President Donald Trump hawk digital trading cards in a video in which he also declared himself a better president than George Washington.

It may not receive the notice that it should, but I am pleased to see that would-be militia kidnappers of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are going to prison for several years. Not a small thing.
