Yes all this, but I’m uneasy whenever sources and methods are disclosed. I suppose since this is presumably going to court that discovery will be invoked and some things can’t be (and, admittedly, shouldn’t be) kept quiet. Still…

This should discourage any other groups with similar intentions. They can’t trust anyone, particularly new members, which makes recruiting difficult. They are also a bunch of dumb fucks, which is why they are playing the Taking Over The Government games.

Yep. They waited until any tell from Barr would have been obvious enough to make him a co-conspirator and liable to arrest by state police.
My guess is that he would have “accidentally” said something about an important investigation happening in Michigan and praised some of the sources and undercover officers by name…

I would just point out that it’s not really that they have no beliefs, it’s that all the things they’ve invented as the cover stories for their beliefs are fakery. Everything they believe has been rejected and isn’t something that can be overtly stated as what they want and are really demanding and fighting for, so they’ve invented decades of cover stories that sluff away like dead skin whenever put to the test. It think we all know where this analysis is going in terms of their true beliefs…

They lucked out…what if everyone that the terrorists talked to was on their side, instead of on America’s side? Law enforcement might not have gotten involved if they never heard anything and didn’t pick up on chatter online. How many plots are going forward still? How many are right now purging anyone they don’t absolutely trust? Are we going to see an uptick in murders after these guys start holding meetings naked in the woods? (Ewww…).
We’re fortunate that these bozos were captured, I’m more worried about the non-bozos that manage to keep things compartmentalized. Even the lone wolfs aren’t as scary, simply because there’s a limit to the damage they can do before law enforcement intervenes…a crack team with the right equipment could do some real damage in a short amount of time.
It’s going to be a long while before the right wing white supremacist violence tamps down…at least it’s looking likely that we will have a DoJ that takes it seriously for the next few years.
