Your briefing on developments in the Supreme Court confirmation battle.
The Senate Judiciary Committee met in executive session Monday to “consider” a slate of nominations including Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s. The real vote will happen next week after Republicans requested a delay, so Monday’s session involved brief comments from senators with promises that they’ll elaborate further at the vote.
“ Republicans pshaw the rules — whether it be waiting to confirm a Supreme Court nominee until after an election, or dropping a line of attack after it’s been discredited — and reap the rewards. Democrats often respond with comity. ”
Can we talk about some people who really, really, need to be slapped. It might as well been a bunch of drunks at a titty bar laughing it up that the womens have to take their clothes off and dance, but the mans get to keep theirs on and drink beer. har har har. It was the very face of disrespect. Judge Jackson earned a lot of respect in spite of them.
I say screw Grassley. He’s a partisan hack. Grass-hole wasn’t always a Trumper. Again, I say screw Grassley. And I say that having attended family events at his house near New Hartford.
Since the “evening briefing” doesn’t accept comments, and seeing as how we’re already talking about jackassery, I’ll just drop this little quote here, of Sen. Scott arguing with the Fox interviewer (John Roberts, not to be confused with the Chief Injustice) about his brilliant plan to win the election by raising taxes on half of America and sunsetting Social Security:
Scott shot back, calling Roberts’ presentation of the information “Democrat talking points,” despite the fact that Roberts was literally reading from Scott’s “11-Point Plan.” Roberts didn’t let him get away with it: “No, no, it’s in the plan! It’s in the plan!”
It was a lot of fun last week listening to Steve Inskeep over on NPR go round and round with Senator Skeletor, who was desperately trying to pretend that making 50% of Americans pay more income taxes somehow doesn’t count as raising people’s taxes. Inskeep is very irritating, but when his target is someone who richly deserves a hostile interviewer, he can actually be kinda enjoyable, or at least interesting, to listen to sometimes.
This attack on Democratic nominee for a seat on the SC is pathetic. Wasn’t it Trump who hired Alex Acosta for US Labor Secretary, who was the former FL US Attorney that agreed to the soft conditions in which Epstein served time in state plea deal? Senator Sasse was pissed about the leniency of Epstein’s time in jail, and that was for child rape and international sex trafficking.
It absolutely fascinates me as to how Chuck Grassley could sit all those days during the hearings with a ginormous dump in his Pampers. I wonder if he was able to do the same thing during the Salmon P. Chase confirmation hearings.
Oh, does anyone remember that President Biden invited Republicans to discuss his thoughts on who he might pick for Supreme Court. So, which GOP Senator told him NOT Her? Betting not a single one.
Their only policy, such that it is, is to destroy our government by any means possible. Whether that is through draining its tax base, blocking its rule making and execution, or if possible just out right insurrection.
Any Democrat that does not firmly planted in their brain basically feeds the cancer.
