Zekinsky appears to be making a bet that in four years, the Dems will take over congress and the WH, and the “percentage of ownership and degree of control to the maximum extant allowed under American law” will become specific and reasonable to allow for Ukraine’s full integration into the West. The tragedy is that Ukraine is likely to lose sovereignty over significant parts its territory and Putin escapes punishment for his war crimes. His forces and economy are too spent to pose an immediate threat to NATO countries. This deal is about Ukraine buying time and betting on the US’ return to sanity. Hope he wins that bet.

So he wants to go back to the El Salvador of the 1980’s and use that as a model for the country. When US backed death squads roamed through the countrysides killing dissidents including priests and nuns like Archbishop Oscar Romero.
