One small detail of all of this keeps coming back to me: Elon Musk is feeding all of these responses to his emails into “AI.” The reason for this is fairly obvious: he is trying to use machine learning to understand a complex problem that he doesn’t understand, namely how the government works. The problem is that machine learning is completely incapable of that task.
I feel like we are very close to handing over dangerous amounts of our decision making to machines that are demonstrably less capable than people, all so that we can concentrate power into smaller and smaller circles.
