Impeachment Managers Rush To Debunk Biden Conspiracy Theories | Talking Points Memo

Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX), one of House impeachment managers, took aim at GOP-backed conspiracy theories around Burisma during the second day of opening impeachment arguments on Thursday, dismantling a key allegation linking Joe Biden to the Ukrainian gas company on whose board Hunter Biden sat.

Burisma?

But what about Pizzagate? Seth Rich? Vince Foster? George Soros’s fingerprints are everywhere! And don’t even get me started on Saul Alinsky!

They’re gonna need a bigger bunk.

Relying on footage of testimony from the public portion of the House’s impeachment inquiry and other documentary evidence,

Hearings that Trump and Republications were not allowed to attend, documentary evidence that doesn’t include the documents Trump and Republicans offered as proof positive of Biden’s treason. Unfair.

This is a critical strategy for the Dem managers because when the GOPer lawyers start up with their lying again there will be no opportunity to challenge them as was so successfully done on the first day. The lies need to be rebutted even if it is preemptively done.

Yeah, unfourtunately due to the trial format, there needs to be a pre-butal to establish the ridiculousness of the Trump “defense”.

And let’s remember that while this stuff is all well known now, this is the first time it’s being entered into Senate records. When people look back at this era, they will use the House impeachment hearings and these trial records as their first source for what happened. It’s important that the Dems make as clear and convincing case as possible.

So many horrible things that Obama, Biden, and Hillary Clinton have done:

  • Remember Obama’s weather-modifying machine? Biden’s son was trying to sell time on it to Burisma to drive up demand for natural gas in Western Europe.

  • Hillary’s server didn’t just have all of her emails, including the ones with Vince Foster out in the next world. It also has the software package she uses to magically spy on Trump. She’s got stuff that Stormy Daniels could only have nightmares about.

  • Biden and son also started the deal to give arms to the current Ukrainian president to attack Russians who are only spreading peace and love and who are our bestest friends. It also has the host software that controls the Jerry Epstein robot she used to entrap all of Trump’s friends. Trump was just trying to keep all those crooked Ukrainians from attacking the Rodina. I mean, Putin says so, how much more credible evidence do you need?

  • All of them were plotting to deny Trump the presidency even before he and Putin decided to run for it.

Yes, but truth vs. falsehoods isn’t the point here. I think this is all just positioning from both sides for the fight next week over whether any witnesses will be called.

Trump’s team has to make a fuss over Burisma because it’s aimed at legitimizing a call for Hunter as a witness, even though they know there is nothing there. They know that a subpoena for Hunter will never happen, either due to a court fight or just McConnell squashing it because it’s ridiculous. That means they can try to block Dems calling any witnesses at all, because Trump’s team can’t get their preferred witness. “If we can’t get Hunter then you don’t get Bolton.” That’s what this is all about.

Not only that, but it has all of the emails, on all of the internets, through all of the tubes since the first one was sent on ARPAnet.

Heck the founding fathers were plotting against Trump when they set up the Constitution. It is so obvious they had it out for him specifically. Total conspiracy.

Aren’t there current GOP senators who were in the senate in 2013 who are on record about supporting the firing of Shokin and Lutsenko? I feel like I’ve read that. If so, I sure hope it’s in the House manager presentation.

ETA: Found it.

Actually it was his hamburger (correctly spelled!)
To debunk every wingnut conspiracy pushed by the right wing over the past 30 odd years would have to entail a session of congress with daily speeches by Garcia, Schiff etc. “Today, the lunacy of Pizzagate…

Wonderful to see the House Managers do this. Just keep at it…there’s so much to choose from, I’m sure.

Dems keep upping their game each day. Making today about tying Trump and the GOP to Russian conspiracy theories, Tying the Trump-Putin relationship to the UKR scandal, and debunking them is brilliant and long overdue.

The shakedown of UKR helped Russia’s interests. It’s Schiff’s way of indicating that Russia was fully aware, supported the shakedown and might’ve even had Trump push Zelensky to reach a deal w/Moscow on Moscow’s terms (something which Trump hinted at in their Sept presser) despite not having the hard evidence to say so definitively (this evidence is on the secret server and in notes held by the Kremlin).
