Forgone.

ā€œTo goā€ is an irregular verb.
The three principle parts are go, went, gone.

I’m pretty sure the GOP would argue rather strongly that a speakership terminates with that House’ session, likely a successful argument before this supreme court. But there will not be an empty House, even if they have to meet somewhere else.

Makes most sense. When he ascends, then vote in pelosi.

the Pompeo, Sec of State, scenario is bullshit… the Cabinet is dismissed as soon as the deadline for swearing in of the President deadline is passed… they are part of the Administration and they no longer serve when the Administration is dissolved…

Not entirely. If the election goes to the House, it does so on January 8th. The duke of pompe-toro’s employment expires January 20th.

Don’t toy with my heart.

I think your words are out of order -shouldn’t it be ā€œpictures of hideous monstersā€ instead?

Also, one of the Secret Service agents will very likely be deputized by the Federal Marshal Service, just in case an indictment and arrest warrant appears.

There are lots of spelling errors in TPM and more grammatical ones (esp. subject-verb agreement – a retired college prof. speaking here who retired when she did because she was so tired of reading undergraduate papers, even the good ones). I forgive these errors because most posts are written in haste, but the frequent subject-verb-agreement errors do get me down.

But a happy fantasy, the kind I had in high school (albeit with different objects for my affection).

France has a legal system based on the napoleonic code, but courts can interpret the laws – in theory they aren’t supposed to revise the laws (although there is a written constitution, actually I think they are up to five now) and a Supreme Court that does have the power to invalidate laws. In the mean time, my understanding is that the Napoleonic Code and its various offshoots make the United States Code Annotated (which fills a couple of bookshelves) look concise. Oh yes, I don’t know if France or other European countries adopted the Uniform Commercial Code (Louisiana did not, which is why Louisiana is so broken down economically; the other 49 states and all Canadian Provinces (except Quebec) and England all adopted it). In fact, you can in theory introduce English judicial rulings in US courts and vice versa, although I think they go to the bottom of the hierarchy.

The large ass showing off the pull up Depends is awful and nauseating, but I still find his little dainty ladies watch one of the stranger things about his so very strange appearance. He wears it all the time. I expect he sleeps in it. It’s an oddity among the insanity of odd that is Donald the Hideous.

I’ve never seen forgo. For that matter I’ve rarely seen forego either, because it’s usually foregone, and not forgone.

or, taking a page from Moscow Mitch’s playbook, they could just hold hearings and drag out that process for as long as it takes to get to Jan 20…
