The defense attorney’s attendance at the fundraiser is irrelevant to whether the prosecutors should be conflicted out. But the argument that, because two of the prosecutors supported Clinton in 2016–or even that they are Democrats–they should be recused is pure nonsense. By the same logic, a Republican prosecutor should be recused. That would leave only prosecutors who have never contributed to a candidate–good luck on finding them.

Presence at a fundraiser for a presidential candidate doesn’t indicate a conflict. Lots of people go to fundraisers to be seen or to advance themselves socially.
If the emerging standard is Democrats can’t prosecute Republicans then we are really in a downward spiral.
Counsel for plaintiffs suing us for air pollution should be disqualified because they breath air.
