Hunter Biden Says Joining Ukraine Gas Board Was Not An ‘Ethical Lapse’ | Talking Points Memo

Speaking out for the first time since fabricated allegations about his involvement in a Ukrainian gas company formed the basis of a foreign pressure campaign by President Trump, Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, said there was no “ethical lapse” in his decision to join the board of Burisma Holdings.

The Trump spawn have done ethical laps around Hunter.

I don’t understand the thinking by team Biden to have Hunter do this interview today.

I really don’t think Joe has been forceful enough against this .
If you get Swift Boated Joe, you have yourself to blame
Kerry ignored it at his peril, until it became “common knowledge”
The narrative even when it is a big lie is hard to roll back

I’d be interested to know the time and place when the rich and powerful didn’t make each other sweetheart deals. It’s so utterly standard and expected that the word “corruption” seems close to inappropriate. Downward from what state of grace have we corruptly slid, exactly? Anyway, compared to Trump’s super-mega-boffo corruption it’s close to quaint.

True that. But the lurid and traitorous corruptions of the Trump period will be a big truth against which the big lie will falter in its tracks. It’ll be little but a whatabout in the letters to the editor in the local weekly that the same old crank nobody pays attention to is always sending.

The whole intrigue with Ukraine and the fake link with the Bidens does not look like it’s helping Joe’s run. However, it is what officially got us on the impeachment track. So, whether he gets the nomination or not, he will have helped in getting the criminal out of the WH.

Really? Then why so many people still buy into “crooked Hillary”? Reality doesn’t matter, narrative does. People believe what they want to believe.

20 years of sustained anti Clinton bias doesn’t evaporate overnight. It didn’t help that major news organizations like the NYT were also happy to jump on board.

However, with even parts of Fox News jumping ship, it looks like the media is done being played. They are pushing back at GOP bs in a way they should have been doing for decades.

“Did I make a mistake? Maybe in the grand scheme of things, ya, but did I make a mistake based on some ethical lapse? Absolutely not,” Hunter Biden said.

I hate this entire answer.

Vaguely incoherent.

A chip off the old block.

Please don’t kill me, but many people needs to be defined by percentage.

This was both a tactical and a strategic mistake.

By doing all of this in response to the attacks, it legitimizes the attacks themselves (after all, if you didn’t do anything wrong, why come out and apologize for it and resign from the other board).

That campaign needs new advisers. Giuliani seems to be coming available, he wouldn’t make that mistake.

That remains to be seen

Maybe it wasn’t clear but I was talking about two specific ideas or “narratives” if you will. Neither of them have anything to do with Hillz’s e-mails or the rest of it.

Nah, I mean ttump can destroyed Biden the same way with the assistance of the media. I think the logic still holds. The way they twist the impeachment to make it seem worse than their coup in the 1990s is another example of how vile their propaganda machine is.

  1. What do you want him to say?

  2. What’s happening to Biden and what happened to Kerry is

A) two separate things

B) rather weird to compare, because Kerry nearly won '04.

Damn. Stop giving the ammo needed to spin this to support the dirt BS. Stop talking.

I didn’t mind the interview and this is America, so we like our heroes (even the ones who inevitably let us down) to be humble.

That quote bothers me, because he clearly tried to thread a response, but it’s more so slick, than real.

True, but I’m not sure I’d want an adviser who implicates both himself and I in criminal activity on national TV.
