So, death panels.
Happy Holiday Greetings from Trump and the GOP.
After the head of the UW Health System went public with their triage protocols they were preparing to implement - “How likely are they to survive?” and what will their long-term outcome be - the governor was able to get the field hospital up and running. Only a couple dozen at any one time, but right on the cusp everywhere of needing it.
In the small county where I live, I was speaking with one of the local funeral home employees who goes out and picks up people from their homes after they have passed. He said he averages about 11 per month. This month he’s at 30.
That’s not involving hospitals.
Our county has avoided this for quite a while, but reality is hitting us…and it’s going to get worse.

This is the lasting legacy of the Republican Party. Only a small number of Republican Senators could have forced McConnell and the President to deal with this issue and potentially save the lives of over 160,000 US citizens, the number estimated have dies due to the President’s callous inaction for political purposes. Instead, they chose silence. And now Republican leaders at the State/Commonwealth level are continuing to kill people by their indifference based on political considerations. I don’t care much for their views, as they directly lead to the deaths of citizens. How can this be tolerated?
And the Fox Network hide behind we don’t fact check. They are complicit as well. Do not forget, do not forgive.
Maybe President McConnell will do better going forward.
A ray of sunshine:
Dear Wisconsin,
‘‘Outdoor tents.’’
Where? Next to an ice-fishing hut? On a snowmobile path?
And isn’t "altruistically choosing to forgo treatment’’ just a death panel by another name? If someone comes to a hospital, there is an expectation of treatment, yes?
Republican “Death Panels”! Yay.
Thanks, trump.
Reading that list, it’s obvious that the death rate is going to go up. A lot. No surprise of course, if the medical system is overwhelmed they have no choice but to take care of those who seem most likely to survive. But, that’s not going to matter to the families who are told that there’s nothing to be done, or whose 911 call is ignored…those people are going to be very angry at what happens to their loved ones.
The big question is if they will place the blame where it belongs, on Republican politicians, or come up with some way to blame the Democrats. Either way, be ready for the social media meltdown that’s coming, it’s going to be a complete mess.
You actually think the answer to that question is in doubt?
This is life under GOP rule. Trump is a symptom and an exacerbating agent. The underlying cause is the GOP-right-wing-wacko-disinformation-elite-corporate-Koch-style-donor complex.
And no, palliative treatment isn’t going to be just for those who would be 100% certain to die even with heroic measures. When you run out of space, the patient with a 70% chance of survival gets the next ICU bed over the patient with a 40% chance of survival. Or even 90%-but-needs-ICU over 70%-but-needs-ICU.
And after all this is over, researchers will have the numbers to tell us just how many people died unnecessarily at which stages, just because ego, stupidity and malice from the right.
Death protocols.
The 1% and their well-paid employees.
These triage rules are all sorts of fucked up.
Question 1 should be: Did you wear a mask and socially distance when possible?
If the answer is no, just turn them away. Then there will be plenty of room.
