A full eight months ago, Ric Grenell, the former Trump official and Republican strategist, promoted the website RecallGavin2020.com and said it was time to kick California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) out of office.
After all the damage Mango Mussolini did to the US economy, there’s no way a MAGAt should have anything to do with the 5th largest economy. Maybe start out with a third world economy, like Alabama or North Dakota, Ricky.
I’m going to make a prediction. If I’m right I will shout it from the ramparts. If not, no one will remember…
This Ric guy (and I can’t help wondering if he’s maybe the mysterious Ricky) will be charged with several illegal money related activities tied to he efforts to cash in on the astro-turfy “anti-Newson wave” that was never going to go anywhere before the next election.
I guess they couldn’t shoehorn into the article what a huge douche this guy is, but it’s relevant to anything he does. He’s just a bullying troll. This goes without saying and yet I want to say it.
I have a feeling this recall effort will backfire spectacularly on the Republicans. The pandemic will be over by fall, there’s no Arnold schwarzenegger to run this time and Newsom is still above water in the polls. This isn’t 2003, Gavin Newsom isn’t Gray Davis and the Republicans have no one they can run who would gain any momentum in California.
On February 19, 2021, Newsom signed a law that provides for all registered voters to receive ballots automatically for each election through the end of 2021. This law was an extension of the policy enacted in 2020. More than 86 percent of California voters voted by mail in the 2020 general election.
The solution to California’s problems (which are vastly overstated by Republicans) is not some Trumpian hack forcing their way into office through a shady election process based on lies about what Newsom has actually done. It is through continuing policies that actually help people, which the Democrats have been doing for the past decade. California has done much better than most states in handling the pandemic, and the economy here is still strong; there are issues (housing being the major one), but there’s nothing in Republican policies that will do anything about them.
We’re better off staying the course with Democrats than allowing any of the Republican hacks a shot at running the state…and I’m pretty confident that the people in this state will agree with that. The lies being told about Newsom are going to backfire, especially as things continue to improve in the next six months…by the time the election is held the Republicans are going to look really silly.
… there’s always one other option: you can run against them yourself…
Bingo.
“But we got a million signatures on the recall petition!” So? I’m sure there are more than one million sore losers in California. You can always get the people who voted for the other guy to back a recall. They want another bite of the apple.
We Californians are going to use this recall to pummel CA GOP. We are going to tar and feather them and ride them out to the Texas border.
Plenty of 2022 message testing will be going on. Californians are tuned in and pissed off at all the shit the Trump and the GOP have been pulling. This recall is a “third rail” kind of election event. Watch Newsom fire up the base and independent voters and raise $100-200m out of this.
That once was true early in the pandemic, but LA ended up being a bloodbath. Everyone I know there got Covid-19.
Not a lot of evidence that it was Newsome’s fault, but I do have some doubts about the intelligence and judgement of a man who once was serious with Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Newsom is just a lizard in a nice suit, he failed to lockdown hard enough and has been blown about by the wind in his dealing with COVID, and is not doing particularly well with vaccine distribution.
However, the absolute last thing we need is some dumbass actively evil republican replacing a dumbass semi-competent democrat in CA. There’s plenty to bash him over the head with, homelessness is beyond ridiculous in the state, but he’s the least bad option.
Not being from CA, or anywhere close to CA, but wouldn’t Grenell need to have CA AG support, and other executive positions go Republicans for Rick to have his way in CA?
