Call their bluff! “Fine, Voter IDs for everyone–IF the state sets up FREE voter ID-issuing kiosks in every gov’t office, gas station, and grocery store!!” 
Republicans have held legislation to make the fix hostage with a demand of their own: requiring voter ID for elections.

What do you do when 30% of the country has decided it doesn’t want democracy anymore and another 15% are too distracted to notice/care? It should be a major issue that the GOP can purposefully hamstring elections by blocking simple legislative solutions, but the press is too eager to prove their bothsides bona fides to dare call them out.

I’m guessing the same issues with PA are happening with WI and MI and we won’t know the winners of those states until after election night.
So it looks like we won’t know who wins on election night again unless Kamala wins a state like North Carolina or Florida.
I hope I can handle the stress.

Trump used the delay to say that Democrats were taking the time to tamper with the results.
That’s on the media, which is under no obligation to promote lies. Moreover, the election is not a horse race, and boo-hoo if counting votes hinders their carefully crafted productions on election night.

Maybe we can embrace the Voter ID demand, in an effective way, I know, I know, all the reasons why it’s a real problem, but if we could figure out a way to make it easy and cheap, and make wealthy people pay for some of it, we could take that unending demand away from them.

PA is the next FL - 2020 all over again, Subprime Court will halt the vote counting when DonOld is ahead and toss the election to him.

From Jamelle Bouie’s column in the Times (that and the crosswords the only reason to subscribe): The defining attribute of the modern Republican Party, beyond its devotion to Donald Trump, is a profound lack of confidence in its ability to compete for a majority of the country at large married with an inability to see outside its ideological cocoon. Republicans both reject the idea that voters could have a legitimate dispute with their views and do not seem to believe that they could persuade anyone who disagrees. And so they decide that the public in question has been indoctrinated or brainwashed or led astray, in one way or another, from the supposedly pure light of the Republican Party.

Got my PA ballot in the mail at 3pm today, dropped it off at the Election Office before 4pm. The gentleman who took our ballots checked that they were signed, dated and he could see the yellow privacy envelope through the perforations. (I don’t recall anyone doing this before) It gives me confidence that incorrect ballot envelopes will be able to be cured.

Flipping past Stern on Sirius on the way to work yesterday or today, he was rerunning his relatively recent episode about the making of “We Are the World”. Good listen with some interesting tidbits about how Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson pulled all those people together almost randomly by using the fact that they’d all be in one place for the AMA. That was 1985. I wasn’t even 10 yet.
This is where we are now:
This devolution of our society is an object lesson better teased out by someone with less bourbon in them than me, but my gut tells me a throughline can be thoroughly drawn here. That this offers a way of illustrating the bigger picture of our cultural rot. It has everything to do with the Reagan Error bolstering and accelerating the Southern Strategy’s trajectory, aiming it firmly at the culture war crescendo we’re living through. I don’t think it’s deniable. I think someone could write a bang-up fucking essay using the above juxtaposition to tease out all the parallels and instructive comparisons…all of it. But my outrage leaves me tired and this bourbon isn’t going to drink itself lol
Now go listen to the song because, cheesy as it is and was, it still meant something.

This past June Lionel Richie was interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning. He was asked about USA for Africa, and he retold the story of how it came to be. But the newest info that he shared was that USAFORAFRICA.org is still going after all these years.
IIRC he said after 5 years they all thought that the organization would be shuttered. They had given out several millions dollars towards feeding Africans. But then some news organization mentioned it, and the more donations came pouring in. I believe that Richie said that every time they think can close it something happens to remind people of what and why the song was made, and more donations come. I think he also said that they have raised more money in the past 20+ years than what they raised in it’s first 10 years after they first released the song.
