In his opening statement of the first public hearing, Jan. 6 committee chair Bennie Thompson (D-MS) reminded listeners of the different, and likely more toothless, version of the panel he and his fellow Democrats were clamoring for around this time last summer.
When the choice is my way or the highway, hit the road. That’s what Pelosi did, and the investigation moved out of Republican control. At that time tfg was still riding high on advice from drunken Rudy, and any R who dared oppose him knew they would lose their comfy seat in Congress. From today’s perspective, they lost control over Liz too. So much for screwing the Dems.
As I’ve said, the wonderful thing about these hearings is NO Republican Tantrum, or abusive questioning, or performative attempts to mainstream conspiracy narratives and irrelevant distractions.
No Jim Jordan, Doug Collins, Jody Hice…no one pitched hissy fits.
Somehow, Congress must end the abuse of the hearing process.
