On the off, but becoming more likely, chance that Trump is removed from office, this bastard becomes our president. Time to start focusing more on his roles in both this subversion of USAID and his role in the Ukraine. He must be stopped.

When Pence is involved it reminds me of the Dubya days, when one flavor of corruption was the injection of theocratic ideology into everything in this quiet, purposeful way.

Pence is a full-on Christian Dominionist, with all that entails.

He sees “The Handmaids Tale” as an instruction manual, not a cautionary story.

WHEN Trump is impeached and possibly removed from office, Pence will get his turn in the barrel.
He has so far been able to duck any public involvement (although if you read the transcripts, he is involved heavily.)

Obviously, all previous administrations have exercised a great deal of influence over foreign-aid disbursements, too, but then there’s this:

Decisions about U.S. aid are often no longer being governed by career professionals applying a rigorous review of applicants and their capabilities. Over the last two years, political pressure, particularly from the office of Vice President Mike Pence, had seeped into aid deliberations and convinced key decision-makers that unless they fell in line, their jobs could be at stake.

Abandoning standards of review (and maybe ignoring relevant statutes)?

Threatening professionals with “consequences”?

These things are the problem.

I think I’d rather Pelosi let Trump twist in the wind a little longer than she has planned. Pence shouldn;t be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office. Might as well recruit Pat Robertson.

Pence has charisma approaching the level of a bag of paper clips.

He can’t demagogue (used as a verb) like Trump.

He would put the sleeping pill industry out of business.

And whatever “sincerity” he was able to pretend to has been washed away by Trump.

Pence is facing a lower bunk at Leavenworth, after fun in the showers. Nothing he does at this point even matters.

It’s very smart of Schiff and Pelosi to not even mention Q-tip’s name right now. Heightens his general level of daily fear, I’m sure.

Ambiguously.

Courts have argued that disbursement of tax-payer dollars to foreign religious institutions – schools, for example – can be justified in some circumstances.

And courts have also failed to prevent the use of federal funds in the destruction of some religious institutions abroad: Take the case of “liberation theology,” for example, where Catholic archbishops, priests, and nuns were raped and murdered by forces trained or paid with your tax dollars and mine.

The Catholic University in Erbil’s new grant from USAID is its first direct agency award. The award, $700,000 over one year, will support courses for “widows, victims of abuse, and former captives of ISIS,” according to a USAID press release.

Well this seems nice, but, there’s always a but, what courses, subjects, how many will this cover, all questions that should have been in the grant request.
