NEW YORK — Daniel Penny was not present at the New York Young Republican Club’s 112th annual gala on Sunday evening, but in many ways he felt like the guest of honor. Several speakers at the event lauded Penny, who was acquitted on a charge of criminally negligent homicide earlier this month in the chokehold…
“I don’t know about you all, but I think we need a lot more Daniel Pennys in this country,” Gill told the gala audience to cheers and applause. “Because we have far too many Jordan Neelys.”
“…so we need to kill them.”
Let’s just put it in plain language, shall we?
(Sorry, no cat for this one. I just can’t.)
After this and Tom Homan’s “visit” to northwest Chicago to rally his anti-immigration stormtroopers, I am fully convinced that MAGA has a fully formed plan and the requisite “resources” of the ground to topple blue urban governments then blue governors.
Berlin after all, was Weimar’s Rotes Kapitol…
As a reminder, if we had not buckled to the demands of stupid liberals in the past, to allow the Jordan Neelys of our world to roam freely in society, this whole discussion would be mute. In the not too distant past, Jordan Neely would have been in a metal health facility receiving treatment, instead of roaming the streets harassing people. Now, it is almost impossible to remove obviously “sick” people from the streets to get the treatment they need, unless they voluntarily commit themselves. Sad!
This is not so simple – as a lifelong newyorker I have been in situations where people with mental health needs are REALLY REALLY SCARY – threatening to push people onto the tracks threatening to punch them and then making threatening moves towards people just trying to get to work or home. While we can never know think that Daniel Perry did not leave his house thinking oh I’m going to kill someone today – think he saw the situation and was trying to help. Misguided in how to help and let the situation get out of control but that people you disagree with support this person does not make what he did so clear. Intent counts – don’t know what his intent was but I don’t assume it necessarily was evil just because evil people support him.
The response to Black Lives Matter, as provided by the stardom of both Rittenhouse and Penny, is plainly: Black Life, Not So Much.
Six minutes is too long for a choke hold, and this guy was trained to know that.
Bad soldier, or wannabe internet hardon - we’ll see more of this, I guarantee. Rittenhouse and Perry are legal proofs to a whole subset of undersexed and radicalized douchebags high on legal speed.
And every borderline case will be fought with racist lawyers paid by racist foundations founded by white men whose businesses are recipients of Federal contracts.
The show goes on. But it’s all theater.
heroes like Daniel Penny are the only thing standing between order and anarchy
Also between order and oppression, like school shooters.
What about next time? In the society Republicans describe, they’re going to need lots and lots of next times.
I think that you’re right and that their fully-formed plan is part of their Project 2025.
Sooo …must be Bernie’s fault … or AOC’s. Fuck off.
Now, it is almost impossible to remove obviously “sick” people from the streets
And WTF do you know about getting sick people off the street?
“the folk hero that we need in a post-constitutional America besieged by existential, internal threats. … Penny’s example reminds us that we do not have to accept and live with the criminality, the degradation, the subversion, the depravity, and the evil in our society,” Wax added.
They’re really doing this thing. How long until MAGA “militias” are determining who’s “evil,” and administering their own chokeholds?
Put this with “the enemy within” rhetoric from Dear Leader, and we’re primed for some very bad outcomes, very soon. Worth noting, too, that Neely was apparently an American citizen, not one of those much-villainized “illegals.”
OK, I get it now. Being a homeless black man with mental health issues is a death sentence, but it’s the DA who is leading a “reign of terror.“
Understood.
Kill a homeless person and you become a hero.
Kill a rich person and cops in three states hunt you down.
“All lives matter” my ass.
Fuck this fucking country.
Seems a missed opportunity to compare the two current vigilantes/social bandits: Luigi and Daniel. Instead we get more of the old univariate obsession with skin color. That is boring and not at all insightful, Talking. Kindly stop doing that.
Vigilantism can always go sideways.
By their very nature, vigilante groups carry inherent risk. Typically recruited from local communities, their members likely share the same ethnic or political identity, collective interests and threat perceptions, raising the odds that they will act as local militias – potentially more powerful than state authorities – and pursue narrow ethnic agendas; a short-term necessary evil that could pave the way for longer-term conflict. A solution for states in dire need of backing, vigilantes too often take advantage of their newfound capacity – and compensate for inadequate support and resources – by seeking to maximise their power and wealth through extortion, kidnapping, and other violent abuses.
Acts of violence against non-whites, self-serving grievance, self-righteous propagandizing, and donations – sort of like a recipe from a GOP cookbook.
No mention of the GOP putting them on the streets.
The GOP have been crippling the positive effects of government as long as it has been profitable and useful to them, like since the Civil War.
Killing a human being suffering from mental illness is not heroic. The reaction to the verdict and lionization of Penny dehumanizes the victim who the system failed.
“I don’t know about you all, but I think we need a lot more Daniel Pennys in this country,” Gill told the gala audience to cheers and applause. “Because we have far too many Jordan Neelys.””
… … … … … … …
So if a man is loud and annoying on a subway it’s reason enough to kill him with your bare hands
Ok, got it
