I expect that President Warren will develop a plan for that. Meanwhile expect nothing being done to continue.

Especially since REPUG PACS criticized the IRS for enforcing code it has become easier to avoid any taxes by just about anyone but the poor and middle class. The simple truth is that laws already exist, they just need to be enforced, such as a “non profit” must actually do non profit activities such as education, food banks, etc, etc. Currently, especially churches that are supposed to stay out of politics get very involved because they know there is no enforcement. Just need a couple of examples along with the willingness of the IRS to defend in court the enforcement as well as to the the false public outcry this will ensue.

Everything you say is true. The Republicans have methodically gutted the IRS to the point where they choose to audit small time tax payers instead of the big boys in an effort to go after quantity instead of quality and not “appear” to be biased against the ultra-wealthy.All part of the upside down application of law and regulatory force in the U.S.

…and the same people who stand up in front of the microphones proclaiming ‘Christian Leadership in Government’ will turn a blind eye to these groups abusing the tax code, I’m sure.

We should consider ourselves lucky that the NAACP doesn’t lose its exemption under the current administration.

If they have another term they’ll get around to it.

SIL was an IRS agent who specialized in corporate audit. Talking at the last family reunion she mentioned that in all the years she was auditing corporations she never did, nor heard of anyone in her local office ever doing an audit on a Fortune 2500 firm. It was always small Mom & Pop bodegas, pizza shops, etc. She never touched any national franchisee or other small business tied directly to a large corporation.

Hate groups have been using the non-profit thing for ages: evangelicals, catholics and a host of other so called god groups.

Remember how the Right was “outraged” back in 2013 that the IRS was targeting some of these groups for abusing their non-profit status.
Democrats made the choice to back off - this was a strategic error. If the reality is that conservative groups are abusing the law more often than liberal groups, we shouldn’t pretend otherwise just to preserve the myth of a balanced universe.
We didn’t see conservatives hesitate to defund ACORN, and we never see them stop going after Planned Parenthood. Not that we should imitate their tactic, but we shouldn’t lie about reality just to make them happier, either.

Democrats are lying to protect Republican tax interests? That is a provocative claim. Can you provide evidence please?

SPLC is a bunch of peddlers of hate lies. They had to fire long-term director Morris Dees, for racism, sexual harrassment, and swindling dumbchuck librul dumbbunnies by pimping “hate group” crap. They are sitting on top of a $70 M slush fund, stashed in off-shore accounts to keep it out of the scrutiny of US tax and ethics lawyers. If you contribute to, or believe ANY crap from the SPLC, you must be a librul dumbchuck dumbbunny.

Oh, gee, looks like I made a mistake. The grifters at SPLC don’t have an offshort $70M. It appears to be an offshore $120M, and that was as of 1995. And NOW they have $450M in the slush fund. Yet librul dumbchuck dummbunnies still shill out for this bunch of lying grifters. If you are contributing, you really are as stupid as the day is long.
