There’s still a key mystery at the heart of Wednesday’s assault on the Capitol: What was Vice President Mike Pence’s role in deploying the D.C. National Guard?
Pence is trying to wipe the poo off his shoes by planting stories to suggest that he was not involved in the riots yesterday. But, he’s responsible because he has been stoking this sedition for 4+ years. So, watch what he does, not what he says. Pence did not call out the Guard (he does not have the power), he has not called out Trump, and he will not invoke the 25th to take the nuclear codes out of the hands of a traitor. Pence is a spineless sycophant. Pay him no further mind.

This is the culmination of Reagan’s 11th Commandment: a Republican shall not criticize another Republican. They simply cannot condemn one of their own no matter how heinous their actions. They are not scared, they are impotent.

Trump may be impeached (he should be), but he will not be convicted. Pence is 13 days from being a nobody with the stench of collaboration forever on his hands.

This question bothered me all evening yesterday on top of the insanity we all witnessed. My question as I was yelling at the TV was “Who is in charge?” Pence has no authority to mobilize troops in the chain of command. Unless Dotard refused to mobilize to the defense of the Capitol and at that very moment he in essence abdicated by inaction his authority as CIC and President. Remove him.
I love it when right-wingers claim that the First Amendment does not stop at their right to say something, but also obligates others to provide a platform and megaphone for their speech.
Seemingly Pence’s self-perceived role was (and is) to gaze adoringly at Trump much as Nancy Reagan gazed at Ronald Reagan. The difference, of course, is that Pence is Vice President and Nancy Reagan was merely a wife. Any designs Pence had on further political office is in the toilet. Pence remains a lickspittle. It’s possible Trump was just too surly or too cowardly, or both, to deploy the Guard on his own mob and instead told Pence “you do it.”
