How Dare You Prevent Us From Screwing You, GOP Cries | Talking Points Memo

When someone is laying an obvious trap, there’s always an option to avoid it.

Unless, of course, you are the Democratic Party as it exists in the mind of the GOP.

“There’s no way. You look like a fucking idiot now.”

Spoken like a true statesman, Sen. Lindsey!

Sure is a shame how the politics of spite doesn’t allow you to actually do the difficult and unglamorous business of, you know, governing. Biden’s legacy may yet be cemented and 2024 may look a lot less likely for the other side.

Biden and his staff know what they are doing. They’ve fulfilled Sinema and Manchin’s demands to do everything they can for bipartisan legislation (and allowed those two to take the lead on it). They have also kept progressives on board with a commitment to the full agenda through concurrent reconciliation so Sinema and Manchin can’t weasel out on that if the bipartisan infrastructure was passed first. I suspect it’s all going to end up as a big reconciliation bill anyway. If you can’t get 10 Republicans to vote to impeach, you certainly can’t get them to vote for an infrastructure bill that burnishes Biden’s bipartisan cred.

I love the smell of GQPer indignation in the morning.

What we are seeing is what the GOP planned to do from the beginning. They have always intended to Filibuster.

Yeah, Sinema elbowed her way to stand at Joe’s left elbow in front of the group, in case anybody hadn’t gotten the message…

(Wonder if she was wearing her “fuck off” ring too??)

“If he’s gonna tie them together, he can forget it!” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) complained to Politico, adding about Republicans who wish to continue: “There’s no way. You look like a fucking idiot now.”

Amazing that he was able to lift his lips from Trump’s ass long enough to get out two short sentences.

“…Now”? What’s changed, Li’l Linsey?

Oops, I believe that Rob Portman is an R from Ohio.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-PA) told CNBC on Friday morning that he had assumed from the start that Democrats would aim for a reconciliation package alongside the bipartisan bill.

He [Portman] also boasted that the bipartisan deal, in his view, still retained all the sweeteners and no unpopular policies like tax increases.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Party of Fiscal Responsibility.

Paying for it in creative ways like dynamic scoring which if I recall is a dubious practice.

“And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn’t been for you meddling kids!”

I admit, I am still trying to understand this.

If I am seeing this correctly, Charlie Brown agreed to kick the ball again, allowing Lucy to spot it. Lucy thought life was cool and was all set up and waiting to rip the ball away. But then Charlie Brown said hey, before we do this, I need this one thing to be done. I need to get that Kite out of the Tree. I won’t do the run and kick until then. So Lucy is now sitting, index finger on the tip of the ball, fuming because the plan is not working out as it normally does.

She was right there next to the Pres with Manchin right behind her and Sen Portman to Biden’s right. What a great photo op! Republicans, Democrats looking way too comfortable together. Plus perfect responses to reporter’s questions. It was glorious!

And yes Mitchell, “It almost makes your head spin,”

Lindsey! I thought you liked it when they are tied together!
