SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Tens of thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes as destructive wildfires roar across the West Coast, and many of them could end up in shelters, raising potential health risks during the coronavirus pandemic.
Raging West Coast Wildfires bring a thick layer of smoke, way beyond the fires themselves. We are in British Columbia, Canada and we have been covered in that thick layer. It’s “VERY HIGH RISK” on the weather warning. In the beginning, I ran to my stove thinking I had left something on by mistake. It’s unrelenting, all encompassing and produces headaches. We met for coffee this morning, my family and I. We simply do not know what to do so we are staying home, doing all those rainy day things while praying for oxygen.
