The House will vote on an impeachment managers resolution Wednesday, setting the stage for the Senate impeachment trial against President Trump in the coming days.
Democrats should pick Adam Schiff and Justin Amash as impeachment floor managers. They would do an excellent job and reveal a true conservative can support impeachment.
I wonder how far these guys really are from the pressure. Kennedy resigning happened after years of courting by the GOP. They are some insidious bastards.
Theyâll be apoplectic at Schiff though. The senate wants to look nothing like the house, but that would be very difficult under Schiff.
Some GOPers will be angry at Schiff, but his unflappable demeanor and excellent legal skills would work wonders with public perception, especially if the GOP selects knuckleheads like Gym Jordan and Matt âDUIâ Gaetz as their impeachment managers.
Does McConnell push hard to finish the trial and âexonerateâ Trump before the SOTU on 2/4? My guess is absolutely, and Trump will be pressuring publicly that they do so.
It should be an interesting couple of weeks. We kind of know some things to expect, but there may still be some unsettled questions/surprises. If any new witnesses get called or new documents entered into evidence, things could get very hot, or at least tepid. Interested to see how John Roberts handles his job. Interested to see how batshit crazy Trump will behave.
Not likely that it will happen, but I would love to see McConnell lose control of things. It would take a big damning document dump and maybe some other leaks before the trial, and the defection of 4 and then more Republicans who are vulnerable or who have some remaining integrity ⌠but a boy can dream, right?
Rep. Demings is a good choice as is Rep. Swallwell. There many more good choices than there are spots. Of course, Rep. Schiff should be the drum major. Or cat herder.
Since Trump declined the opportunity to participate in the House proceedings, wonât they have to allow witnesses and evidence that werenât presented in the House? Not that they would have any problem with setting different standards, but stillâŚ
