The extra day just ratchets the whole thing up. Sweatin’ the turtle, I call it.

Democrats should pick Adam Schiff and Justin Amash as impeachment floor managers. They would do an excellent job and reveal a true conservative can support impeachment.

I wonder how far these guys really are from the pressure. Kennedy resigning happened after years of courting by the GOP. They are some insidious bastards.

They’ll be apoplectic at Schiff though. The senate wants to look nothing like the house, but that would be very difficult under Schiff.

Some GOPers will be angry at Schiff, but his unflappable demeanor and excellent legal skills would work wonders with public perception, especially if the GOP selects knuckleheads like Gym Jordan and Matt “DUI” Gaetz as their impeachment managers.

That makes me feel real sad.

Does McConnell push hard to finish the trial and ‘exonerate’ Trump before the SOTU on 2/4? My guess is absolutely, and Trump will be pressuring publicly that they do so.

It should be an interesting couple of weeks. We kind of know some things to expect, but there may still be some unsettled questions/surprises. If any new witnesses get called or new documents entered into evidence, things could get very hot, or at least tepid. Interested to see how John Roberts handles his job. Interested to see how batshit crazy Trump will behave.

Is there justification for cutting off debate on the trial rules? Because if not the democrats could make it interesting.

I think the closer it gets the more erratic Trump will become. I hope he doesn’t decide to blow up a small country.

If Trump gets away with it in time to act out in front of the combined congress we’ll get to see what a dumbass Mussolini looks like.

Not likely that it will happen, but I would love to see McConnell lose control of things. It would take a big damning document dump and maybe some other leaks before the trial, and the defection of 4 and then more Republicans who are vulnerable or who have some remaining integrity … but a boy can dream, right?

Rep. Demings is a good choice as is Rep. Swallwell. There many more good choices than there are spots. Of course, Rep. Schiff should be the drum major. Or cat herder.

Since Trump declined the opportunity to participate in the House proceedings, won’t they have to allow witnesses and evidence that weren’t presented in the House? Not that they would have any problem with setting different standards, but still…

I nominate AOC to be one, just so I can watch the collective head exploding from the other side.

Throw in Hillary Clinton too. She can start the proceeding with a chant of “Lock him up”.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has not yet unveiled the package

The longer we can avoid McConnell unveiling his package, the better.
