The House Judiciary Committee issued subpoenas on Wednesday for records regarding President Donald Trump’s alleged offer of pardons to Homeland Security officials who violate the law in a pre-election mad-dash to build his beloved border wall.
You remember that image of sad Mueller that said “please stop committing crimes so I can finish the investigation?”
We’re gonna need one of those for Nadler. And Schiff. And Cummings.
The ‘just kidding’ tweet will surface in a very short time to diffuse this.
On the other hand, this may be my chance to see how well the ‘just kidding’ defense works in the House. Been wondering, because I might try it the next time I’m faced with a subpoena (LOL!!!).
Telling people to break the law, and promises pardons if they get in trouble, is an impeachable offense. Pelosi should take this opportunity to invoke impeachment powers by the House – preferably appointing a select committee to examine all allegations – and issue new subpoenas citing impeachment power, filing for intervenor status or offering amicus briefs in current court cases, etc.
Especially in terms of Nielsen and McAleenan, ONLY impeachment subpoenas will have any chance of overcoming executive privilege claims.
But I predict that once again, Pelosi will put her own personal agenda before the nations, and sit on her hands while Trump shits on the constitution and rule of law…

I don’t think you have to worry about this ever getting to Pelosi’s desk, honestly. One of his staff will do the ‘just kidding’ tweet later today or overnight, which diffuses the whole situation. It just isn’t going to be an issue.
Now once he starts actually ISSUING the pardons, well, then yeah…

I it me, or is 45* 's right side smaller than his left, especially since that’s the upraised arm, which ought to mean his jacket would swing out a bit.
His right hand is slightly blurred - yet the line between his cuff and the wrist is very sharp.
I sense another (AP) journalistic smoothing here.
I think the the entire left half of the pic has been squished a bit, making him look thinner, from the flag-pin over. It’s shot at 28mm, he should be wider than norm.
I’m sure this subpoena will be answered with the same respect and honored just as those issued in the past. It’s all just fuel for the fire of impeachment, friends, despite the fact that some posters here think they could make a better than Speaker Pelosi and the House Democratic leadership. When you guys get elected, I’ll pay more attention to your suggestions for the timetable. I say bring this as close to November 2020 as possible. Make it a real issue in the election.

I wonder what some people here will find wrong when impeachment proceedings actually start…I have no doubt they will come up with something to concern troll about, I’m just going to be curious to see what it is.
This really is impeachable though, the president offered pardons in exchange for lawbreaking…it won’t stop Republicans from going along with it, but I think this is something the American people will agree is wrong. It has to be investigated, and it will be, and if it really is what it seems then I bet we see it among the offenses offered at the impeachment trial.
