The insurrection “war room” that Trump was in, in which Stone and Giuliani relayed classified information to the rioters in real time, should be one of the things that this commission sheds light on.
Robert Hyde’s name also came up with the Ukraine story, relaying human intelligence about Amb. Yovanovich to Rudy Giuliani:
Among the exchanges between Hyde and the Giuliani associate, Lev Parnas, is one message from Hyde that reads: “Her phone is off. Computer is off. She’s next to the embassy. Not in the embassy. Private security. Been there since Thursday.”
“They know she’s a political puppet. They will let me know when she’s on the move,” Hyde says.
The states that demurred did not believe they needed the federal government to defend them and disliked the prospect of having to provide tax money to support the new government. Thus, from the very beginning, the supporters of the Constitution feared that New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia would refuse to ratify it.
My map says that only one of those states is Southern.
Hopes and dreams of hostages are not plans for taking them. “Fuck shit up” covers any number of contingencies, and is a plan for precisely none of them.
This is where old hippies go to die and young hippies go to be hippies. So there is a lot of crazy around here but it’s crazy with pretty good intentions for the most part, if you see what I mean. It ain’t QAnon. It’s very left leaning crazy.
I’m afraid so. But at least I travelled to see my family earlier this month. At least I got to do that.
And, hopefully, we’ll get our thirds in time to have holidays this year. But with the way things are going, they’re still not going to be as wonderful and hopeful as I hoped they’d be when I sat alone during the holidays last year and looked to a brighter future to come soon.
That there was no grand plan behind J6, just a bunch of assholes who decided to get together and fuck up Congress’s shit (and who succeeded beyond their expectations).
I felt better about having to travel after this podcast. I never did stop wearing masks indoors and am only getting takeout from restaurants. (My favorite has wisely stuck to takeout service for now anyway. Gives me an excuse to order more sushi to support them.)
You’re right that they didn’t have a detailed plan of any sort. Although we don’t know if that’s true of the militia groups involved. That said, I think there was a very simple plan that most everyone who breached the Capitol understood. They believed that if they stopped the count by whatever means necessary, which many clearly understood involved violence, then Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act and declare martial law. The plan is ridiculous, it’s stupid, etc, but that was the plan.
No one is denying that a good part of the crowd of useful idiots were there to “fuck shit up”. Where we differ is that you assert the invaders were made up exclusively of useful idiots.
I passed through NM nearly 30 years ago, while doing my long cross-country drive. Needless to say I was enchanted. Just not enough to stay. Santa Fe, Taos, Albuquerque, Trinity, White Sands, some other places. Mostly arid regions tend to attract a “different” sort of person. Different is good. One thing that weirdly stands out for me as a memory is having what was probably the best Taco Bell meal I’ve had, because it overlooked White Sands NM. I could have been eating anything though.
