impeachment.

Rand wants to take a vote on this.

Wow. Looks extremely well written and professional. Unfortunately, I doubt any of the actual decision makers will read it.

Gee, with all of the Trump boat parades and gatherings in the past, the hate rallies, all of the Trump flags and “Stop the Steal” banners on January 6th, Trump’s egging them on in his grotesque, inflammatory speech, and the rioters confessing that they were inspired by Trump, one might conclude that Donnie was singularly responsible. I know, it’s a wild and crazy notion…

his supporters would have ransacked the Capitol with or without Trump’s remarks that day.

I doubt that. The true actors needed the unwashed idiots to provide cover for them in order to accomplish their mission. Thank dog they failed.

Trump spent the last four years crowing that he’s “The Greatest Leader the World Has Ever Seen!”

But now claims he has zero influence.

Over the GOP base.

At a Trump rally.

Uh huh.

This. They’re making legal arguments to dishonorable people who don’t give a shit.

Trump has a pattern of behavior egging on his supporters to violence. Just remember all the time while campaigning in 2015-16 he encourage his rally attendees to rough up the protestor, to do to them like they did to protesters in the old days, and even said “beat the crap out of him”. Trump has conditioned his supporters to act violently towards non supporters, and 01/06 was just another hate inducing rally for Trump.

I admire the House team for not just replying “What is this stupid s—? Just shut up and go home, you already know your senators are too corrupt to convict.”

This impeachment trial is, in fact, political theater, so, while the actual decision makers are the Senators… the real jury is the public, and if we’re lucky, and if we do this right, the decision makers in the next election will remember this, and vote accordingly.

11 GOP senators voted “no” on the rules resolution – I wonder if this is more of a real sense of Trump’s hard core support than the vote on tabling the debate on constitutionality.

Logic, it ain’t what trumpers eat for breakfast.

If logic were gluten, the Trumpers are on an extremely strict paleo diet.

Pretty on brand for Trump.

He’s the poorest of the poor to state and federal tax authorities, but has the greatest wealth you have ever seen when talking to potential lenders.

The only real question is when are we going to hold him accountable for his lies and actions.

The case was made you can’t prosecute a sitting president. And now the Republicans say you can’t try him after he leaves office. So when it is that presidents can be brought to justice?

Absolutely.

GOP gospel is that no Republican president is ever subject to any laws at all whatsoever.
