The House on Tuesday comfortably passed the resolution to release the Justice Department’s files on the Jeffrey Epstein case. All present House Democrats and Republicans — except Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) — supported the measure in a 427-1 vote, sending the measure to the Senate for a potential vote. The House vote came after months…
What this says to me is that the orange sh!t stain gave them all cover to vote for this to keep them from having to face voters next fall with a vote to block this on their record. But what do I know?
House Republicans: “We’re all Susan Collins today. Concerned.”
A Daily Kos post, info from David Waldman, says the bill that passed is Democrat Ro Khana’s bill. Massie’s bill is the one on the discharge petition, and it is still waiting under the rules for a Discharge Petition. The 2 bills are nearly the same. ALERT! - Epstein Bill Switch-A-Roo
It’s going to be interesting to watch them flopping after the DOJ blocks the release because of ongoing investigations at the request of Trump.
It appears as though pretty much everyone is paying close attention to this now. My guess is that any attempt Trump or the DOJ makes to hide anything in this case will be plainly obvious even to most of MAGA. He’s walking on thin ice here. The real question is, does he know this?
Checkmate in Jailbait-gate.
Funny thing about this, it has always been very obvious that Epstein and Donald Trump were chums of the first order. Given Trump’s background that left little space between what Epstein was doing and Donald Trump.
Most of these Republican politicians, and Republicans, they had no problem with that at their core.
Say the bill passes and Trump signs it and then says “We’ve already released everything we can legally release.” This just takes us back to last January when Bondi “released” the files she had “sitting on her desk.” Is there any reason why the same GOOPers and MAGA and Q-Anon folk aren’t going to be pissed off again, if not even more pissed off because they’re trying the same dumb trick that flopped so badly back then?
WTF is going on with Clay Higgins? Somebody get him on the record as to why he’s the single holdout, when even the likes of Gosar and Biggs apparently voted for release of the files? Is he the only Republican member of the House stupid enough to believe that this vote is going to result in the release of the photos of Trump with half-naked girls and thousands of hours of incriminating video?
I’d like to see a reporter ask Trump why they dragged Boebert into the Situation Room for the 3rd degree and why he called MTG a “traitor” if it turns out he had no problem with this after all.
Make the dude say “be quiet piggy” over and over. It’s a very bad look for him.
Try the Dance of the Cuckoos.
Maureen Comey knows what is in those files and she is suing the DOJ for wrongful termination…..
Comey?
Yes
The Discharge petition is a good analog for the filibuster discussion.
We couldnt get a vote, but once the hurdle is overcome, it’s a deluge.
Filibuster is a tool used by both parties to avoid popular things
I remain skeptical. When those who remain in control of the information in its entirety can either scrub it or release only that favorable to their “agenda,” it stinks. Or, “now that this is under investigation, we cannot release it,” also stinks. I don’t trust any of them, and have no reason to. I strongly suspect the cover up will continue.
Fingers crossed. I keep thinking there’s got to be non-MAGAs in DOJ and elsewhere who know, and will leak.
