The House Oversight Committee wants documents related to the the Customs and Border Protection agency’s investigation into a Facebook group where some CBP staff made racist jokes about migrants.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1239368

committee was concerned that staffers and officials who participated in the Facebook group were still working with immigrants.

You can certainly bet they are — one of the groups had 5,000 members, fer chris’sake.

Good that Rep Cummings is on top of this issue because it is clear that there is a high number of Trickledown Trumpsim in this administration - acting on his stochastic terrorism, violence, racism. misogyny, xenophobia, cruelty, abuse…etc and it has placed lives in danger.

In another Rep. Cummings document release, which concerns national security re:nuclear weapons:

https://oversight.house.gov/news/press-releases/new-documents-show-corporate-and-foreign-interests-seek-to-influence-us-nuclear

Overall, the new documents obtained by the Committee reveal that, with regard to Saudi Arabia, the Trump Administration has virtually obliterated the lines normally separating government policymaking from corporate and foreign interests. The documents show the Administration’s willingness to let private parties with close ties to the President wield outsized influence over U.S. policy towards Saudi Arabia. These new documents raise serious questions about whether the White House is willing to place the potential profits of the President’s friends above the national security of the American people and the universal objective of preventing the spread of nuclear weapons.

Yes. Very good. And more please, as soon as we can have it.

If I could draw, I would depict Rep. Cummings as a superhero.

Fortunately, Cummings, being an adult, isn’t going to let a little thing like Trump’s racist broadsides distract him from doing his job.

Assuming there was any doubt, let’s get the confirmation in black and white. And then run on it. Loudly.

If you can’t be racist, sexist, and xenophobic on Facebook then where in the hell are you supposed to go to be racist, sexist, and xenophobic?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

"CNN’s Don Lemon, the dumbest man on television, insinuated last night while asking a debate ‘question’ that I was a racist, when in fact I am ‘the least racist person in the world.’ Perhaps someone should explain to Don that he is supposed to be neutral, unbiased & fair or is he too dumb (stupid} to understand that,” Trump tweeted.

I see Trump has to use both words - for those in his base who only know how to read one word or the other word.

Typical Trump. Prone to exaggeration. Why say “dumbest” when just “dumb” would do?

request will be denied - for no other reason than that Trump wants a rock fight …

at this point Cummings (or any other Person of color) could ask for the time of day - and Trump would demand that they not be told…

and the more Trump effectively gets away with this … the more he is able to symbolically alter the perceptions about the balance of power.

Malicious harassment? That’s all he was arrested for?

Why is ‘the least racist person in the world’ in quotes?

Is he going to trademark that or something?

ETA: I don’t think Trump wrote this one. The proper use of “insinuated.” Pretty good grammar and punctuation. So, maybe the writer used quotes to show Trump he/she has been paying attention to the racist boss man when he denies being a racist.
