The House Judiciary Committee alleges President Trump committed multiple federal crimes, including bribery and wire fraud, in its report on impeachment, filed early Monday.
Just finished the Neal Katyal book on impeachment. Going to buy more and leave them at particular doorsteps. I was particularly struck by the OATH that Senator’s have to swear before they start the trial. It’s weird because it has the wacky concept of country over party.
“Put simply, President Trump’s own words reveal that he solicited a foreign government to investigate his political rival. The President did so for his own political gain, rather than for foreign policy reasons,” the report says. “The testimony of experienced, expert officials in his own administration—including several of his own appointees—reveal that the President used his official powers as leverage to pressure a vulnerable strategic partner to do his bidding. And every indication, every piece of evidence, supports that the President will abuse his power again.”
though history is an important subject, I’d be grateful if civics makes a comeback.
But when they swear that oath to put country over party are they swearing to the current state of the country or state of the country they wished to make?
Wasn’t there plenty of witness tampering, pardon dangling, and coordination with Felons just from the Mueller Report and public documents - with respect to Manafort, Gates, and Flynn - to nail Chump with witness tampering and intimidation? Obstruction? That could have been tossed onto the Impeachment pile no charge, and in my book, without confusing or angering the public. Not to mention all the other folks Chump went after publicly during the Mueller/Congressional/Impeachment investigations to have bullet-proof felony counts?
