A House committee announced Tuesday that it will be investigating Secretary of State Mike Pompeo due to a speech he’ll be giving at the Republican National Convention in direct violation of his own guidance.

Good. I like the tight timelines. Stick to them and issue subpoenas as soon as he blows them off.

Yes, this president won’t enforce the hatch act, and Moscow Mitch has decided the destruction of democracy is worth the political price.

Make. Him. Pay. It

When we back off of confronting wrong doing because the Republicans don’t care than they get a double win: they get away with it and there’s no political scandal to weather. Keep the pressure on.

Deny Pompeo reentry … if this speech is a crime … can’t be letting criminals in!

“The department has argued that Pompeo will be addressing the convention in his “personal capacity” and will not tout his achievements as secretary of state.”

Sorry Mike, you can’t leave your position as SECRETARY OF STATE at the door when you enter the RNC. You are a government appointee and are not allowed by law to make statements in support of ANY political candidate. If you want to do so, resign immediately and make all the statements you want.

First make sure that legislation for supporting mail-in-ballots through the USPS goes through. Then Impeach the motherfucker. Be efficient. Make it a batch job. Impeach Pompeo, Barr, and every secretary-level position where they’ve done wrong. And then impeach the monster in the White House…again.

Keep Moscow Mitch busy. Make the asshole work 80-hour weeks. Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll drop dead from a heart attack.

“Hi, I’m Mike Pompeo. I’m not a Secretary of State, but I play one on TV”.

Pft !!!
rules, they only apply to those who haven’t signed the trump NDA after quoting there undying soulless obligation to him.
otherwise, he’s got you covered until you slip up.

Especially not when he’s giving his political speech while in a foreign capital, where he is on official business, and taxpayers paid for his lard ass to get there and back, and paid for all his (and probably his wife’s) hotel and expenses. The RNC will undoubtedly identify and introduce him as the Secretary of State. Under these circumstances, he cannot plausibly claim to be speaking exclusively in his individual capacity. Not that that will stop him.

Can somebody 'splain me how the DoS “argument” holds water when it CLEARLY VIOLATES THEIR OWN F*CKING RULES!?!?!

Would that some plucky (but not in KY) journalist call Pompeous out on this during his next presser.

I ain’t holding my breath…

Congress, even the Democratically controlled one, is feckless. Impeach his ass. Introduce a resolution to begin impeachment hearings. Then subpeona everyone at state and the RNC from top to bottom. Even in an election here, even during an election. If the high crime and misdemeanor is during the election, so shall be the investigation and hearings.

I guess we just don’t understand American exceptionalism. Apparently it means that the rules apply “except” to Republicans.

Here’s an idea. Everyone needs to buy a big bag of Hatch chiles. Maybe the extra hot ones. You know, representing the Hatch Act. Mail them to Pompeo (and anyone else in violation. With the current mail delays, they’ll probably in a good state of rot by the time they get to their destinations. Only problem… we know Mr. and Mrs. Pompeo would have someone else pick up the mail for them.

I’ll say it again. The TV networks should refuse to air this kind of thing, based on a refusal to aid and abet a violation of the Hatch Act.

It’s a triple win: The third being they get to rub our faces in it. This is very satisfying to them.

It’s good to see such a selfless servant of the people! He’s even willing to give up his free time to light a few cities on fire! Bravo!

As if they’re going to start following the Constitution, laws, regulations, norms, and ethics 70 days before the election.

Or, btw, show any indications of competence or giving a fuck.

Misuse of federal funds and resources used to be a crime. Might just be again. Meanwhile all those appointees who had to resign because of personal travel on the government’s dime early in the regime must be really pissed that they didn’t just stick it out.

it’s a cult thing.
I could explain it to you but I will just jump to the end.

How do these dimwits manage to step in so much caca? Not bad enough but then they track it all over the place. Don’t they look where they’re walking?
