Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee have barely been showing up at the committee’s virtual sessions ever since COVID-19 outbreak forced Congress to shut down the U.S. Capitol building in early March.
“These things get hacked,” Wenstrup said in an interview with Politico. “Why are we putting ourselves at that risk? You border on classified information and maybe sometimes even spill into it. It’s just not the way to conduct business.”
They profess security concerns yet Trump is still president.
I really don’t see this as a loss. Perhaps each meeting they skip means a meeting they are barred from in the next congresss? Perhaps every meeting they miss W/o an excuse means they lose their office for a month?
This is an important committee, and republicans need to stop treating it like it is a joke.
Two of the committee’s Republicans, Reps. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) and Chris Stewart (R-CT), claimed it’s about cybersecurity, not politics, and therefore the GOP would only be attending the sessions if they were held in-person.
as if they wouldn’t leak any classified information that they thought would help their fascist cult politically. they sure don’t seem inclined to tighten cybersecurity when it comes to their russian masters interfering in our elections.
If security were the real reason, why not alert your colleagues across the aisle and work out a secure solution together?

Silly me. Never mind.
Yeah, and he’s using an unsecured phone and blabbing all sorts of secrets in public, not to mention his little confabs with Putin.
Security isn’t really what they’re about.
Yep, people who swallow or more likely ignore the lame lies and excuses these idiots toss out so easily. There is little I see that is smooth or inventive in their words. Their lies are obvious and even insulting in how poorly contrived they are. But they know they can say anything and their supporters will just nod their heads and let them go on.
They are boycotting the committee meetings out of petulance. To paraphrase both Max Boot and Jennifer Rubin, two former GOP Op Ed mouthpieces, the modern Republican Party must be destroyed.
How could anyone regret not having Jordan and Nunes at any meeting? I wish I could find a high paying job with great benefits where I did not have to do anything. I would take it and effectively remain in retirement.
They have already decided to FK THE COUNTRY. They simply don’t care who takes it over as long as THEY remain in ‘power’. They are fools. They believe SOMEONE ELSE is looking out.
