You must not have heard about the alternate plot.
I think if they have any understanding of human nature at all they realize that anyone who looked like a member and got caught by the mob would have been in grave danger. They didnāt know Cruz was on their side. It took a pretty deep lack of sophistication to be there in the first place. I agree Pence is not the other the way Pelosi and AOC are, and it makes sense to focus on him. But anyone they caught in business attire that day could have been beaten or worse. Mobs are bad.
Malcolm is good with that, but letās hope it works out better for us.
Right, the one where he kills Duncan and then rules well and wisely from then on, happily ever after, and everyone decides to move on for the sake of unity? Yeah, they workshopped that and it didnāt fly.
I think itās actually a big deal that Whitehouse openly said that he thinks members of Congress were working to give the insurrection a chance to succeed. Weāve heard very little talk about that, aside from AOC most have not said anything. Thereās no sugarcoating what Whitehouse saidā¦he obviously thinks that some Republicans were, in some way, working to undo the election the same way the insurrectionists were, and that the delay was purposeful. Itās not clear if he thinks they were actually collaborating, or if it was just working towards the same goal of installing Trump as our dictator, but just saying it like that is a big change.
And, if heās saying that, then he knows somethingā¦Whitehouse is very careful in what he says, so thereās something that the public doesnāt know yet about what happened. Again, it may just be that the delay risked all their lives and the Republicans havenāt shown remorse for allowing that to happen. But, I can see the emotion of feeling that the other side would have been fine with you being killed by a mob changing the tone in Congressā¦it makes the Democrats taking a harder line towards Republicans a lot less surprising. How that plays out, and if it gets all the Democratic Senators onboard with pushing their agenda through despite the Republicans, weāll have to wait and see.
Whew! That was close. Likeā¦Canada close.
Uhā¦ā¦I guess it has been a long week.
The vehicle occupants survived, btw.
How about the poor guy running ahead of the car? I aināt jogginā that road.
āTubby the Tubaā
Aww Burn!
You back in Australia or what?
I presume after a long recovery and possibly not as well as they would have otherwise.
Testament to modern safety standards and the dedication of first responders.
I used to live in Pacifica, CA where these kinds of slides were common, as was the occasional house falling into the sea.
I didnāt take the comment to be praise for Pence but more to allow (Castro?) to compare his actions to those of T** and make the statement that āPence was not a traitor.ā
Diana DeGette is now showing some of the riotersā greatest hits (no pun intended).
Hmm?
Lignite? Bituminous? Anthracite?
Decisions decisions?
Well this was in China so Iāll take door number 2, here.
Careful there @playitagainrowlf. Your Aussie is showing.
Here in America itās still Thursday.
Iām sure they knew that in the moment, but some of the Republicans may have conveniently convinced themselves that the danger wasnāt really that bad, that the Democrats have overblown it. Yesterday will make it even more clear to them how close the call was. And, thatās the other reason that they focused on the āassassination attemptā on Pence, to make it clear that Republicans would have been targeted as well.
I doubt it changes any minds (maybe a few who can vote without political consequences at best), the Republicans will find an excuse to acquit Trump no matter whatā¦but, inside, at least some of them will understand how fraudulent that vote is, how it shows a lack of character on their part. Who knows what comes out of that.
DOH! I think Iām spending too much time on Zoom calls with my family down in Ozā¦
