Since he’s made his post-Star Trek life out of discrimination against Asians, I wonder if George Takei could be called to speak before this hearing. His experience is germane to this topic and, as a child survivor of the internment camps on the West Coast, he could bring a lot of reality to this discussion.

Nobody executed by Texas has been definitively confirmed to have been innocent since the death penalty was reinstated, but quite a few of the convictions were highly dubious. In particular, Cam Willingham’s conviction was based on bullshit expert testimony that the cause of a fire that killed his kids was arson. The Texas Forensic Science Commission eventually investigated the case and determined the arson finding was unsupportable. If Willingham hadn’t already been executed, he almost certainly would have received a new trial (which the prosecution probably would have voluntarily dismissed).

Question for lawyers on the forum, since the crimes were committed in different jurisdictions, does he gets two trials or do all charges get rolled into a single trial, if it was me I would pretty much would like to be tried in Cherokee Co, by a jury of my peers, that is gun-crazy, white Christian talibans and not the middle-aged black ladies that seem to be the majority of the jury pools in Fulton.
