Building bridges to socialism!
The GOP only likes the free infrastructure upgrades that the infrastructure fairies sometimes build at night when everyone is sleeping.
Time for Dems to get real and beat R’s over the head with their hypocrisy. The I was for it until I was against it, helped write it but could not vote for it, and claims that fixing roads and bridges is socialism needs to be used as Josh suggested in his edblog. Rep. Malliotakis is crediting Trump with passage of the Biden bill. Start selling it Dems!
You bet…they only like to TALK about ‘infrastructure’ as seen in the previous administration. Four years with every single week being ‘infrastructure week’. Now they don’t like the ‘socialist’ bill which will actually DO something for the American people. I did see McConnell standing up there this morning bemoaning the 2 trillion to ‘help’ the people with nary a grimace of the 2 trillion he and HIS party gave to the very wealthy. At least we’ll GET something for our money.
A Republican Hill staffer I know commented when the bill passed, “there’s thirteen members who are gonna get the shit primaried out of them,” referring to the thirteen Rs who voted in favor of it.
Somehow I doubt Don Young (R-AK), who is 187 years old and came to Washington with Herbert Hoover, is going to lose much sleep over that threat.
Yup, he is already out there touting it as good for Alaskans. He is a gruff old buzzard but knows a good thing when he sees it.
It’s socialism when the government does stuff for all people. It’s not socialism if private companies gouge the tax payers for the same service,
GOP is dead, they truly have nothing left except trolling and dump worship

“Infrastructure” means tax cuts for the rich, right?
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help
.
That should be fun! Are they going to stop by Cafe Provence for lunch? Visit the co-operative art gallery? The cooking school and the imported food shop? Not sure what the GOP expects here - the VT GOP is almost non-existant, 91% of adults are vaccinated against Covid, and masking as a courtesy is the order of the day.
Trump wanted an infrastructure package but demanded the border wall in exchange for it. Schumer wasn’t having any of his bull shit.
Don Young has been around so long he remembers when Alaska was a territory. His predecessor in the senate Ted Stevens was an administrator during the Eisenhower administration.
Be careful. The RNC will steal that in a heartbeat. Best to trademark now.
Hell, he’s been around so long he remembers when it was russian territory.
RNC plan: Give more tax cuts to the rich. That will stimulate them to build & restore infrastructure.
Joe gave us a tool. Josh has a nice essay on that (top left on the site).
Dems will be wise to use it.
The U.S. makes a big deal of allocating a $trillion for infrastructure. Meanwhile…
There are no official figures on the total amount of loans to and investment in Belt and Road Initiative projects , but according to data provider Refinitiv , in the first quarter of 2020, the value of belt and road projects exceeded US$4 trillion for the first time. Among these, 1,590 projects – valued at US$1.9 trillion – were BRI projects, while 1,574 other projects with a combined value of US$2.1 trillion were classified as “Projects with Chinese involvement”.
The World Bank estimated last year that around US$500 billion was invested in belt and road projects in 50 developing countries between 2013 and 2018. Of that amount, about US$300 billion was estimated to have been financed via public and publicly guaranteed debt.
