The SEC needs to keep a close eye on which Republican members of congress are shorting Treasuries or buying up foreign currency. I think they are straight out planning to do the default this time, in the hope and expectation that they will be able to blame the resulting fallout on Biden. There should be no complacency that this time will again be like the last times.
This is standard Republican practice.
They figure that eventually Dems will go along since Dems do not like to harm people. They think Dems would rather accept anything rather than hurting some people.
If they have something blocked, Reps, from past experience, have learned that Dems will eventually surrender and the Reps will get everything they want.

I hold out hope that there will be a solution to this default crisis, preferably something along the lines of the President declaring the debt limit unconstitutional. It’s utterly ridiculous that the GQP will not vote for a clean debt limit bill which simply allows us to pay our debts. It’s not rocket science. Also, too, don’t negotiate with terrorists.
Name the democratic members of the House that you claim will vote for this. Name them, even one.

I am not saying any will go along this time, but from past experience, that is what the Reps expect to happen. They know that when the numbers are close and the bill is extremely important, that it is not all that hard to convince a few Dems to accept “under the circumstances”.
There are almost always some Congresspeople who are on the fence about an issue and can be persuaded to go with the “majority” in order to protect something in the Bill that some in their Districts can accept or these Congresspeople may even vote against their party in order to protect their own seats in the House.
