Republicans on the House Appropriations committee stripped funding from three projects aimed at providing services to the LGBTQ+ community during Tuesday’s fiscal Department of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations markup, turning an ordinarily uneventful process into a tense and antagonizing meeting.
To paraphrase Lucy Van Pelt, “What a bunch of assholes”
What I’m thinking is worse than that.
They can’t even define woke!!! GOP is the party of hate and fearmongering.
The cruelty is the point.
Woke is anything that threatens White male dominance.
But what is interesting about attacking all gay people is that it attacks many members of their own families. That is what caused gay rights to move forward so fast in the last 20 years is that unlike Blacks, Muslims, and immigrants, Republicans are as likely as anyone else to have gays in their families.
It caused Rachel Maddow to say, “if only we could find a way to put poor people in Republican families”.
Which leads me to think that is really what is behind these attacks on these projects, not so much that they might benefit gay people but rather that they benefit poor people.
The GOP hates the LGBTQ community. Ultimately, they mean to do us harm.
It’s part of the GOP return to fiscal responsibility. When you reduce the deficit by 0.00024% some people are going to suffer.
Every time a Republican says fiscal, another targeted minority gets their rights, financial security, their very physical safety stripped away from them.
Am I to understand then that the GOPers are “unwoke”?
May the harm these fools playing disgusting games are doing to other humans rebound upon them a thousand times worse.
According to our local public radio station–NWPR–another GOP-dominated committee is working on a bill to defund public broadcasting. Their budget-reduction targets are not exactly random–or subtle.
And these people like to think of themselves as “good Christians.” I see nothing either Christian or good in any of them.
We should be so used to this performative crap by now.
But somehow they lower the bar more than they previously had.
Republicans don’t believe we should,
feed the hungry
give water/drink to the thirsty
shelter the homeless
clothe the naked
comfort the sick…

I never liked multiple choice questions that had “all of the above” as an option. 
Both I guess. I think the term “woke” shows stupidity on their part and also an inability to express themselves in actual English. Especially that character in Florida who hates Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. He thinks hating Disney and “wokeness” in government is gonna get him the White House when it will just bankrupt his state and ruin his career,
Just a comment about the now dead-in-the water NDAA: The Pentagon has never, ever successfully passed in audit. Indeed, it can’t account for a full 61% of its inventory/spending. Now they want to give it another $874.2 billion?
