To be honest, the news about Trump being competitive even with his Putin endorsement, the news about the vile thugs on our Supreme Court, the news about Ukraine, the news about Hunter Biden, etc. etc. etc. depresses me. I’ve read newspapers daily since I was 10 or 11 and was a US History major in grad school. But the current iteration of the Republican Party, aka the Trumpist Party, is the lowest, most evil, most frightening portend for this nation. I’m elderly and may need a break…but that would only make Trump and Putin and their fecal followers smile.
PS: Yes, I know its not a cat. But in 25 years of coming to northern Newfoundland, which is the southernmost place where they are found, this was the closest I’ve ever gotten to an Arctic fox.
PPS: I’ve been a daily or more often visitor to TPM for something like twenty years. Thanks David for creating the best version of Morning Memo yet! David, you really make this essential morning reading and your humor is tops.

On the subject of misinformation:
Twitter’s low rank in the survey was because it failed to meet almost any of the organization’s criteria for climate misinformation policies, which ranged from having clear and publicly available information on climate science to having clearly articulated policies on what actions the company will take against the spread of misinformation. The report noted that billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk’s purchase of the company last year added to the confusion over how policies are enforced and how the company makes content decisions.
“Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company has created uncertainty about which policies are still standing and which are not,” the report stated.
Twitter received its only point in the report for fulfilling one of the researchers’ requirements that platforms have an easily accessible and readable privacy policy. Twitter was also the only platform to lack a clear reporting process for flagging harmful or misleading content for higher review.
This platform is doing more harm that any perceived good. Perhaps it’s time to stop enabling it. As much as I enjoyed some of the feeds and postings, it simply wasn’t worth it. Haven’t looked back.

I’ve been wondering why none of the mainstream news people who have interviewed Orange Man haven’t pelted him with questions that start, “Sir, people are saying you’re a lying sack of crap who’s stiffed every client you’ve ever had” or “I’ve heard many people say that you’re the worst president in history.” I know he would spew his usual drivel in response, but it would nice to see him on his heels. He might be able to get off one good retort, but after awhile he would fall back on “Yo mama!” before taking his microphone off.
I know, it’s pointless. His cult is never going to see through it.
