House Dems Release Video To Capture Most Damning Inquiry Moments

In an attempt to make the sprawling impeachment inquiry and the cast of characters it orbits digestible, House Democrats have produced a two-minute movie-trailer-style video aimed at highlighting the most damning moments for President Donald Trump during last month’s hearings.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1266022

It’s frustrating we have to wait until Cannes to see if Trump gets hit by that speeding train at the end of the trailer.

Hopefully that ends up all over social media.

I would also like to see a 30 second version of that cut to run on TV, but that might be asking too much (it’s not asking too much).

Heh. That’s genius.

Also: can we now agree that Adam Schiff is smarter and better at messaging than Devin Nunes? Or do we still need the bot-esque “House Dems in disarray” trope?

Kinda disappointed in the Dems. Are they trying to get rid of a toxic criminal who is destroying the country, or instigate a bidding war between Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime Video for picking up the next thriller mini-series?

I say great, don’t care who put it out there, but these kind of short snappy replies probably will reach a lot of people. Go viral, yes!

It’ll take until episode 3 before we discover Devin Nunes has no idea how to milk a cow.

Most damning parts? That video will be longer than Dr. Zhivago.

They could break it into 30-second commercials with the same final title card – cycle through the various witnesses. Then their media manager can find out which segment polls the best and run that one more heavily.

Merchandising. Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes “Action figures”.

They’re trying to engage the American public via a format that might hold their attention briefly. I think it’s worth a shot.

Agreed. And yet…it just makes me uneasy that a matter of such gravity winds up as one more bit of audio-visual snap-crackle-pop in an attempt to engage a distracted populace. I pray that it works.

Nunes will be the slow motion action figure, Gym the squirrel on meth.

Whisky, Bourbon, Tequila…

Look, not criticizing making the video, just adding the ominous soundtrack. How about giving this the gravitas it deserves, not trying to make it into a straight-to-video movie.

It’s a tough call whether to take the higher road or wrestle with pigs. And since today is “mixed metaphor Tuesday”, I’ll conclude by saying you can’t always choose your battlefield; you’ve just gotta fight as smart and as hard as you can.

Rethugliklans will soon respond with a 10-minute refutation read by Devin Nunes that will be stretched to 30 minutes with ads for Trump 2020 merchandise.
