"…we must identify the full set of individuals who may have also been the targets of politically-motivated investigations.”

Get Apple, Microsoft, Google, Sprint, etc. in front of the committee, put them under oath, immunize them against violating any gag orders currently in place, and the list of victims that Trump politcially ratf*cked will prove utterly jaw-dropping.

Half the chairs of House committees – and probably half the Judiciary committee, itself – will likely find their own names on that list.

The scope of Diaper Don’s depravity will be breathtaking.

And that’s not even including his political enemies outside government (“Paging Jeff Bezos”)…

You can’t fix things unless you know the extent of what is wrong. Apple must explain their public relations BS, all the while working with corrupt breaches of 4th Amendment protections. The targets of these specific investigations were not enemies of the state.

Just makes you wonder whether Fattest Nixon has the slightest glimmer of how much crap is piling up on his doorstep?

Nah, just part of the neverending witch hunt.

This is great news! We need to understand what the hell happened at our DOJ?

More importantly, we need to FIX IT and establish rules and regs to strongly prevent the destruction of our government ever again!

In what passes for his mind, Donnie is quite certain that he’s never made a mistake or ever done anything wrong.

Trump made it a requirement for interactions within the government to have a strictly trial-case-legal basis, with all the Presumptions of Innocence, Deliberations and Appeals Processes…

No handshakes, no traditions, no assumptions…no assurances…no mores-without-statute-based-interactions without the former criteria.

Nadler said in the letter that his committee is focusing on unearthing evidence that Trump pushed the DOJ to conduct the investigations.

You still won’t get more than six GOP senators to convict him on impeachment charges.

The Justice Committee should formally, legally subpoena the records, and the AG should immediately and fully comply with the lawful subpoena before anyone in Rump’s orbit has a chance to file their bullshit motion.

Well, yes . . . this could have been done on a legitimate basis, and for honorable reasons. Of course, this is the Trump “regime” we’re talking about. Does anyone really think that the wannabe dictator and his mob investigated anyone else in government for legitimate reasons?

Here’s guessing there won’t be many takers on that option.

Also too. He will never be disabused of the notion that the rich are a special breed who should get to do whatever they want – unless they’re Jeff Bezos of course. He’s not the Trump idea of “best people.”

Another investigation, another set of subpoenas, another deadline…I’m getting really exasperated with all this information that must be out there already, and is already known by a TON of people. Why does it take so long???

Here’s hoping the justice department throws in the towel on any and all reservations about, and contests over, the the document request and provides Nadler with everything he asked for.

FSM I hope by your Noodly Appendage yes.

And…when some fatuous bullshit emerges, some code defying reasons where self imposed standards within the DOJ are invoked to shield whoever from whatever…we’ll know we are living in a pretend country where lip service has supplanted justice and the rule of law.

“The track record of the Trump DOJ does not inspire confidence that they have such prudence, that they did these investigations for the right reasons,” he added. “But at the same time, I don’t think the right takeaway is that this was obviously an abuse of power and they never should have [issued the subpoenas], that no one should ever be investigating lawmakers, because sometimes lawmakers commit crimes.”

Blockquote

I agree with all that’s been said in prior posts regarding the Trump Administration. But this an excellent point. I can think of a number of Republicans in the Senate and the House that probably deserve an investigation.

Office of Legal Counsel at the US Department of Justice might be considering filing a memo which informs the court that the US DOJ is above the law. How can DOJ do its work if the DOJ cannot act as Gestapo? Would be a shame if Garland got impeached prior to Barr. OLC opinions/memos have been very bad for the USA for quite a while.
