So, McGann did a horrible job for an incompetent and evil man, and was blasé about the whole damn thing two years later.
That checks out.

Now that it’s known that Rod Rosenstein was in place specifically to hinder Mueller it’s funny that anyone ever believed he would resign. Or rather claimed to believe he would resign.
This is not a hip hop track.
The Globe has always been pretty timid, but they did manage to develop enough spine to go after the catholic church, though I think that was before The Man in the Yellow Hat bought the paper.
I always have a hard time keeping straight that the Globe is the sensible paper and the Herald is the mouth-frothing wingnut paper.
I remember “G” for good and “H” for horrible.
Fortunately, I already forecast the questions about this transcript at tomorrow’s press briefing:
Typo or intentional? ![]()
Aw, c’mon. You how hard it is to write headlines on deadline while dealing with the onerous restrictions of column widths. You’re just nitpicking picas here, buddy.
Indeed. I can’t tell you how much better I sleep at night knowing that millions of Americans were able to vote their conscience. I mean really, we should let the specter of fascism and the end of democracy get in the way of that!
That must be what the GOP means when they talk about the quality of votes rather than the quantity being important.
As though we needed any more proof to confirm that DJT is a liar, a damned, unrepentant, corrupt liar???
I marvel again at how infinitely corrupting Chump is. You may point to a lot of dastardly figures in our country’s past, and some presidents who played nasty games and were far less than noble figures…but you would have to find a murderous crime boss in order to match the mindset and circumstances of Chump. I will never even give him the credit of being tough or even a ‘boss’, and he doesn’t have the guts to even get in a push-fight let alone put his life on the line like a real crime boss.
However, the guy is a walking felony. Like a blood soaked crime boss, there is not a single thing legitimate about him except possibly the crime boss has real courage, real charisma, and may even have a real heart and be good to many of his family, neighbors, or community. Chump can’t even claim the least of those.
So Chump is even worse, because he is also looking to leech on everyone else to cover for his YUUUGE inadequacies. He isn’t just asking for people to commit crimes to make him money or get him power or punish his enemies…he also is asking them so he can look tougher, not look stoopid or weak, and because he hasn’t the courage/grit/determination/work ethic to even crime properly.
He walked into one of the world’s most renowned medical centers with a case of Covid, and by the time he left every official there who could be got on record was lying and breaking their oaths and allowing gross breaches of medical protocols. That is what I mean. He corrupted people just by being in the same room, the same country/party/hemisphere. Astounding.
“That being said, McGahn said at one point that while counsel he was trying to avoid causing a “chain reaction that would cause this to spiral out of control in a way that wasn’t in the best interests . . . of my client, which was the President.”“
NO!!! The Office of the President is your client, NOT the occupant. There’s a difference.
Garland will let Trump walk.
Among other things:
Unblackmailable**
A little-emphasized quality in Trump.
(1) The Right considers him a deity
(2) Those who wish to threaten him with blackmail will falter. Cultists consider his sins gold
** I reserve the option of saying that there are some crimes (some taboos, for example) which could get Trump in trouble.
The verbatim transcript of McGahn’s responses is interesting.
Read more carefully. I was speaking of ERIC Garland @ericgarland who’s had a lengthy commentary re/ this testimony on Twitter.
And no, MERRICK Garland will not “let Trump walk.”
The fact that Trump tried to get McGahn to get Rosenstein to fire Mueller, and then instructed McGahn to deny that ever happened is shocking, but it’s not at all news. It was in the Mueller Report.
Yes. McGann didn’t give a shit about his client who was only an empty vessel to funnel his putrid picks for the Federal Court and satisfy his Federalist Society wet dream of stacking the courts.
Obviously, he did give a shit about his personal liability.
And, as should be unstated, he didn’t give a shit about Democracy.
