Hickenlooper: ‘You Don’t Always Get It Right With The First Team’

In the aftermath of the second fundraising quarter’s end and a lackluster debate performance, many of former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s top staffers are departing — a sign that “you don’t always get it right with the first team,” according to the ex-governor.

Things that make you say HUMMMMM

Guess “I’m a Scientist! Everyone else is a Socialist promising everyone a government job” Is not as winning a message as Gov. Ball of Fire thought…

“The former governor admitted, though, that he’s not always an effective “spokesperson” for his own ideas.”

That’s obvious. Good for him to have such self-consciousness. But why not just drop out? His way of talking always makes me think he should be a political commentator or columnist instead.

p.s. Beto should drop out ASAP too.

I think Hickenlooper is the only Democrat that trump could “legitimately” beat in a debate.

(I’ll probably get a badge for spelling Hickenlooper correctly).

John, if you ran for the Senate you’d become instantly popular and get more money and kudos. People would like you and pay attention to you. Trust me.

Hey Pence, ever driven a tank?

How about a firetruck?

Which leaves his wife, you might think, except that she was all of the above.

No joke!

One of my disappointments in the campaign so far is that purple state governors haven’t gotten a platform to explain how they’ve governed effectively. That’s partly their fault and partly that the coverage has favored the bigger mouths (hi Bernie), splashy entrances (hello Biden and Beto) and the ‘race to the left’ narrative.

A full hearing would include considerable time for Hickenlooper, Bullock and Inslee.

Imagine the size of the bumper sticker which says “Vote for Hickenlooper in 2020.”

Hickenlooper, I’m sorry you’re an ok guy but there are things that are desperately needed in Colorado - like setting up state banks that can take the money the marijuna industry is bringing in to keep them from coming down here to New Mexico and laundering it - which they are.

If we’re going with examples from sports - when the team is failing, it’s the coach who gets fired.

Beyond me why Chickenlooper decided against running for the Senate against Gardner. The seat would be his. Instead, there is a full cast of characters now running - it looks a lot like the Dem Prez field.

He’s too quirky to connect with the rest of the country, and too conflict-adverse to handle a real presidential campaign. And I think he’s deluded if he thinks he can walk in and get everyone to hold hands and work together.

He needs to stop wasting everybody’s time and $ and move on to the Senate.

It’s a mystery to me too - why don’t some of these people use their heads?

Saw somewhere he thinks his strength is in being the man-in-charge. (A senator needs to be a team player). He was a good mayor and an okay governor. But I don’t think he’d make a good president.
He ought to suck it up (like the rest of us have done at some point during our careers) and accept the Senate job.

Bennet would not be a good choice either, for that matter. He’s kind of a “DINO”. Could have been a Republican in an earlier era.

Leaving Hickenlooper to go to Beto. This is career enhancement?

Hmmm, a fair mayor IMO and an okay gov esp. considering who the Rs put up (Tancredo, Beauprez, etc.). In the debates he lost me for good with his tactic of trying to stand out by painting all the other candidates as socialists. I guess it’s good practice for the others because that’s exactly what Trumpo’s going to do. But it’s a sleazy tactic for someone who knows very well that there are many socialistic features to the economies of the U.S. and other developed nations. I don’t think I want him in the Senate, either; I think right now there are twelve candidates vying for the right to run against Cory Gardner.
