In June, Trump ended support for 7 Tx testing sites and now will open 4 testing sites…that is still 3 testing sites short…NOT an addition, just inadequate replacement!

TrumpWorld jumps right in and screw the people. Next they tweet and scream and lie and write op-eds, etc. etc. Then after getting nailed they ā€˜open’ and INSIST DAMMIT that they are responding to the people…and use it in ADS and rallies and pat themselves on the back.

ā€œThe announcement of the ā€œtemporary COVID-19 surge testing sitesā€ comes over a month after the Trump administration nearly let support for seven testing sites in Texas lapse.ā€

It also comes after yesterday’s daily report of 306 new Covid-19 deaths in Texas in the previous 24 hours.

Putting out embers is it?

Four paltry sites, when the need for sites and the capability to return results in 48 hours is huge…this is basically window dressing while the house burns. Biden taking over just can’t come soon enough, though things are so screwed up that it might take a couple months to put everything back into operation.

It should be called,
Trumps Department of Health and Death Services.
always late to the party and when he gets there he thinks it’s a party for him.
I can’t wait for trump to finally be slam dunked for no points. Just years behind bars

Trump has announced that only Texas and Florida are spared from Trump’s cuts to National Guard funding for COVID-19 response

All other states and territories will have to shoulder 25% of the costs associated with their guard forces assisting with their coronavirus response.

Now, guess which two states Trump CANNOT afford to lose in the upcoming election…and which two states will now be lavished with all the COVID-19 help the Federal Govt. can muster.

I’d go with ā€œSickness and Death Servicesā€, which gives us ā€œSDSā€ as the acronym. He’s too stupid to pick up on the implications of ā€œSDSā€ to those who remember the '60s and if we don’t spell it out we can make him think it stands for ā€œSuper Donnie’s Servicesā€, so he’ll start using it in his tweets…

Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn sent a letter to the Trump administration demanding that the [government run] sites be kept open

Sacrilege. The Gospel according to St. Ronald clearly states that ā€œThe nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.ā€

Too many Texas and Florida Rs are getting sick/dying. Votes are getting expensive.

But this is Texas, so one of the four turned out to be a Louie Gohmert kissing booth.

Oddly, Trump will lose Houston and Harris County by a good margin.
And, hardly even the window dressing mentioned in this thread. 1250 tests daily per site/per day. Five-thousand total tests per day-- in a metro area with a population of nearly 6 million.

I’m happy for the people it will help.
Disgusted by the bare minimal effort from the federal and state government to help save lives.

Nope. Senators complained, sites stayed open. It’s in the story. (And I’m in Texas, where it was in every paper.)

4 additional sites in a state the size of TX… BFD will not even be a drop in the needed bucket.
