A national medical database could be very useful for studying lots of diseases, but I would not want to be involved in trying to figure out the data access controls and anonymization strategies. Nightmare material. Zero confidence that this administration could get it right.

Tager-Flusberg added that even if the data is anonymized, it’s very easy to determine people’s identities from simple information like date of birth and current residence. The Trump administration has already shared internal data with law enforcement agencies, she noted; that suggested another risk — that NIH-gathered data could be shared with people “not considered in the least bit trustworthy by the scientific community.”

I don’t understand how they think they can determine if autism or Alzheimer’s is environmental if nobody stays in one place any more?

Data collection for a research project requires an hypothesis that dictates the type of information that is collected. Otherwise a tremendous waste of resources results and the accumulated data is worthless. Just saying.

I am so pleased that Tim Cook gave Pedo a 24-karat gold brick and a glass plate and got a tariff break as part of the quid pro quo. Pedo deserves gifts for his many talents.
However, I get the sense that the elevator is not going to the top floor. It would have been far better for Pedo to promote the smart phone designed by own son Erick, who is the sharpest tool in the children’s dresser. Unlike the iPhone, Erick’s smartphone is made in America by the Pedo Organization, with American screws and American parts by American workers who are not immigrants in All-American cities, and promoted by the blonde christian conservative pedo-affiicianados of Fox News, who are following in the footsteps of Roger Ailes, the vile sexual predator-journalist.

I guess I wasn’t clear, but what I mean is how can they determine if someone who gets one of these conditions makes it environmental if people are moving around. Because don’t they first they have figure out what is triggering Alzheimer’s or autism if its environmental?
And just from personal family medical history my maternal grandmother had Alzheimer’s. She was born and raised in Jefferson County, MO. After she and my grandfather got married they lived in St Louis City, in various apartments. After my mother graduated college her parents finally bought a house. My maternal grandmother and then my mother had Alzheimer’s but my grandfather who was born and raised in WI, in several small towns did not.
Where my grandmother was born and raised, and where my mother was born and raised, were not similar in conditions.
I also remember talking to my mother about Alzheimer’s before she presented symptoms. We discussed that people were living longer now, but back then someone didn’t live long enough to present with Alzheimer’s.

There is no evidence that autism is caused by environmental factors. It has a genetic basis. However RFK Jr. is determined to manipulate data to enforce his false belief that autism is based in environmental causes. He is immune to facts.

Don’t worry, the authorities have all kinds of data on the dementia of the president and they do nothing about it, so they’ll probably give citizens a pass too. But of course, insurance companies will be able to purchase the results in order for them to deny coverage to a larger swath of people.

Registries for diseases are already ubiquitous. If Kennedy and Bhattacharya want to set up a good quality autism registry that can lead to a cure, I am not going to politicize that. I think that good people can be found to run the process and research ethically. Autism was one of the personal motivations for Kennedy seeking out the HHS job. I am sure that he will change his mind on vaccines if a cure for autism is found or if the vaccine link to autism is debunked (again) by his bffs.
